After tearing his Achilles in the 2025 NBA Finals, Tyrese Haliburton returned to action on opening night. He looked spry and played like the old Haliburton, adding 23 points (8–15 FG), 12 assists and a steal in 34 minutes. He continued the stellar play for the next three contests, and everything looked all-systems-go.
But after playing 35 minutes on Monday, the second leg of a back-to-back, Haliburton felt “a little beat up.” On Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Haliburton strained his left hamstring and will be out at least two weeks.
Haliburton does have a history of hamstring injuries and, with the Achilles issue, the Pacers will likely be uber-conservative when he returns.
It’s a huge blow for a Pacers team already without Ivica Zubac and T.J. McConnell. In addition, Andrew Nembhard is questionable for Wednesday with neck soreness.
If Nembhard returns, he will likely handle point guard duties, with Kelly Oubre Jr. at shooting guard and Quenton Jackson backing up both positions. Pascal Siakam would need to shoulder more of the offensive load and should see a usage bump. Last season, Siakam contributed plenty of points, but the efficiency cratered without Haliburton in the mix.
