2027 NBA Finals DraftKings Predictions Market Movement, Shifts
Oklahoma City Thunder: 20% → 17%
As expected, OKC’s title chances have taken a hit on DraftKings Predictions, although perhaps not as significant as one would initially anticipate. Neither Williams nor Wallace have officially been ruled out for the season, but their respective ankle/fibula and shoulder ailments typically result in elongated, multi-month absences. Williams, specifically, would likely be hard-pressed to return in the 2026-27 NBA season.
With both of these star wings out of the picture, OKC’s path to the title becomes much more difficult. Even more pressure will fall on reigning back-to-back MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and players like Chet Holmgren and Ajay Mitchell will have to step up. Still, the Thunder are deep and boast championship experience, so they may be capable of weathering the storm and battling through adversity. Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti also has a treasure trove of draft picks and assets at his disposal, so a big midseason trade to bolster the roster is certainly a possibility.
San Antonio Spurs: 22% → 32%
The biggest immediate beneficiaries of OKC’s recent injuries are, without a doubt, the San Antonio Spurs. Victor Wembanyama and company defeated the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals last year, and many were already anticipating a rematch heading into the current campaign.
With Williams and Wallace sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Spurs are now the clear favorites in the West, rising to the highest chance to win the 2027 NBA Finals on the board at 32%. San Antonio is off to a bit of a rocky start to the season, but many expect them to right the ship. Wembanyama is a perennial MVP candidate at just 22 years old, Dylan Harper appears poised to step into the role of the team’s second-best player, and the roster possesses an elite supporting cast.
Philadelphia 76ers: 12% → 31%
Looking out East, the 76ers have emerged as the clear favorite to come out of their conference and challenge whoever represents the West. It’s only been a few games, but Philadelphia is already looking like a well-oiled machine.
Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Joel Embiid and V.J. Edgecombe have flashed solid chemistry on the floor thus far, although some do have concerns about longevity for James and Embiid, the general defense, and hierarchical issues if the team starts to drop games.
All of that said, the positive potential clearly outweighs the negative, hence the dramatic upward percentage shift from 12% to 31%, placing the 76ers with the second-best NBA title chances currently. OKC’s injuries could hypothetically take one of the two main perceived Western Conference challengers out of the picture, putting Philly in even better position to win its first NBA championship since 1983.
Portland Trail Blazers: 1% → 12%
The season is still young, but the Trail Blazers could finally be putting all of the pieces together. This team is the perfect balance of youth and experience, featuring a deep roster including Deni Avdija, Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday, Donovan Clingan and Scoot Henderson, among other contributors.
Portland has looked strong through their opening games, led by the resurgence of Lillard post-Achilles tear, the steady hand of Avdija, and an elite supporting cast both offensively and defensively. As a result, the Trail Blazers’ chances to win the 2027 NBA Finals have risen from 1% pre-season to 12%, which currently ranks seventh on the board. There’s still plenty of basketball to be played, but the Blazers are a team to watch.
