Kenneth Walker III is back in Seattle for a massive revenge game. Despite leading the Seahawks to a Super Bowl and earning Super Bowl MVP honors last season, Seattle chose not to pay Walker. And while Walker is off to an incredible start in Kansas City, the Seattle offense is struggling. So far, it seems as if Walker is winning the divorce. However, a big game in his return to Seattle would really seal the deal for Walker, and he should be incredibly motivated to handle business this week.
Even for a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, Seattle is an incredibly hard place to play on the road. To make life easy for the Chiefs, they should feed Walker the ball early and often. Walker leads the league in rushing yards, despite the Chiefs playing only five games so far. Walker has scored at least one touchdown in four of five games this season and twice in back-to-back contests heading into Week 7. He should find the end zone for the fourth straight game in his return to Seattle.
Sam Darnold More Than 0.5 Interceptions Thrown
Sam Darnold has not started this season on a great note, sporting a 7-7 TD-INT ratio. The offseason loss of Kenneth Walker III and the injury to first-round pick Jadarian Price have made this Seattle offense very one-dimensional. That has allowed opposing pass rushes to get after Darnold, forcing mistakes he was prone to throughout his career before coming to Seattle.
Darnold faces another big test against the tough Kansas City defense. Steve Spagnuolo is one of the NFL’s best defensive coordinators and should have plenty of ways to disrupt Darnold under center. Kansas City ranks third in the NFL in both defensive EPA/play and defensive success rate. The Chiefs will make this game hard for Darnold, and he should throw a pick for the fifth straight game he’s played.
Patrick Mahomes Less Than 17.5 Rushing Yards
Last season, Patrick Mahomes had a career-high in rushing yards. The Chiefs had no real rushing attack, so Mahomes had to create the running game himself. This season, things are completely different. The addition of Kenneth Walker III has given the Kansas City offense a balance that it hasn’t had in years. That has taken a big part of the workload off Mahomes’ shoulders. Last season, Mahomes rushed for over 30 yards per game. So far this season, he is rushing for just 11.4 yards per game. Mahomes has only rushed for more than 17.5 yards in one game all season, and that was in Week 1. Mahomes has had two or fewer rushing attempts in three of four games since the season opener. Seattle also ranks third in the NFL in defensive rushing success rate. Mahomes should have another quiet game on the ground and stay under this number for the fifth consecutive game.
