LSU vs. Auburn player props

Byrum Brown 70+ rushing yards (+104)

Last season, Byrum Brown impressed with the USF Bulls, then followed head coach Alex Golesh to Auburn via the portal this past offseason. He’s produced 1,205 passing yards and eight touchdowns via the air this season, but it’s not his arm that makes him special. Instead, it’s his legs that stand out. The quarterback has 459 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground thus far and is coming off his best games of the season in that regard. The volume he’s seen lately is wild – he had 19 attempts and 26 attempts in the last two weeks (bear in mind that sacks so count as rush attempts in the NCAA) – and has produced 107 and 115 rushing yards with a touchdown in each. Sure, the efficiency isn’t anything too stellar, but he did this against Tennessee and Georgia in SEC competition. LSU has a formidable pass rush with 27 sacks and should generate lots of pressure, keeping Brown on the move this week. After running for 70+ yards in three of his six games and coming close with 65 in another, also taking 18+ attempts in four games, he should get to this yardage mark again, even in a tough matchup.

Sam Leavitt 250+ passing yards (-135)

The quarterback of the LSU Tigers, Sam Leavitt hasn’t entirely delivered on the hype that he brought to Baton Rouge. While he does have 1,785 passing yards, an SEC-best mark, he’s also tied for an FBS-worst eight interceptions to match his 14 touchdowns. His play has been a mixed bag due to the turnovers, but he’s largely been efficient with a 70.1% completion rate that stands out. On a per-game basis, Leavitt averages 255.0 passing yards, which is exactly what we want to see here. For the purposes of this prop bet, we’re playing it a little bit low with 250+ passing yards for the gunslinger in this matchup. Auburn’s defense is solid enough, allowing 228.0 passing yards per game and a 61.8% completion rate. However, that may not be able to overcome the kind of volume that Leavitt has seen at times, even when LSU won big. His team is a touchdown favorite, but he saw 38 attempts in blowout wins against Mississippi State and Louisiana Tech. He should be able to throw the ball around in this one and get to 250+ passing yards, which he’s done in four of his seven appearances.
