NFL Week 7 Pick’Em Pool Picks, Predictions and Strategy
Here are my five favorite selections to use this week in NFL against-the-spread pools.
NFL Week 7 Picks
Raiders +4.5 vs. Rams — The Raiders have been a vastly improved team this season. Head coach Klint Kubiak has established his identity with this team already. Las Vegas ranks fifth in the NFL in offensive EPA/dropback. Kirk Cousins is playing the best football he’s played in years and the Las Vegas offense is scoring a lot of points. At a certain point, the expectations for the Rams coming into the season need to be thrown out. After six weeks, it’s safe to say this team might just not be as good as we all thought they’d be.
Against high-level opponents, the Raiders have not quite made winning plays, but have kept it close. Their only really bad loss came on the road against the Patriots. At home, they lost by three points to both the Chiefs and the Bills. The Raiders’ offense has been just as good as the Rams’ offense this season, and now Los Angeles is without Davante Adams. The Raiders should score enough at home to cover this number against the struggling Rams.
Falcons +3.5 vs. 49ers — The Falcons have now lost back-to-back games and need to get some momentum going. They are hosting the undefeated 49ers this week, and a win would be massive. This is a good spot for Atlanta. The 49ers are on a short week after playing on Monday Night Football, and also have to travel across the country to Atlanta. The Falcons should be able to keep this game within a field goal. The 49ers defense has been solid, but they are not elite on that side of the ball. The Falcons should be able to move the ball in this game and put up some points at home.
The 49ers’ offense has been excellent this season, but the injuries keep stacking up for them. Mike Evans is now set to miss some time, making them incredibly short-handed at wide receiver. The Falcons have a top-10 run defense and should keep Christian McCaffrey in check. This seems like a spot where the 49ers could suffer their first loss.
Lions -3 vs. Packers — This is a big-time NFC North matchup. This is arguably the best division in football, and both of these teams are trying to hunt down the Vikings. The Lions are coming off a bye week. That bye week came at a good time for Detroit after getting a dominant win over the Cardinals. Detroit had some issues over the first few weeks and had things to correct, but should have been feeling good during the bye week.
The Lions rank third in the NFL in offensive EPA/play. They can score with anyone in the league, especially at home. Jared Goff is much better indoors throughout his career, which has been evident already this season. Detroit ranks third in offensive success rate, while the Packers rank 26th. Detroit has the much better offense and the home-field advantage. The Lions should get the win and cover the short spread.
Cardinals +4.5 vs. Broncos — The Cardinals have been very competitive this season, despite not being one of the most talented teams in the league. Jacoby Brissett has continued to show that he can run this offense very competently. Arizona ranks 11th in offensive success rate, while Denver ranks 28th. The Cardinals have the much better offense so far this season. The Denver defense is better than the Arizona defense, but has not been as good on the road. They gave up 31 points to the Chiefs and 24 points to the 49ers on the road this season.
Bo Nix has played really poorly. While Arizona has some defensive shortcomings, the Denver offense can’t take advantage of those issues. Arizona is coming off a huge win over the Rams and should keep the momentum going here. The Broncos are not built to blow teams out, and the Cardinals should cover this number.
Chiefs +2.5 at Seahawks — The Chiefs are looking like the Chiefs of old again this season. Patrick Mahomes is back to his best and Kenneth Walker has given this offense incredible balance. Kansas City ranks fourth in the NFL in offensive EPA/play and offensive success rate. Seattle has a great defense, but has given up 32 points to San Francisco and 33 points to the Commanders this season. The Chiefs should be able to put up some points in this game, despite the tough matchup.
The Seahawks’ offense has not been the same without Kenneth Walker and Klint Kubiak. The Chiefs’ defense has also been great, ranking third in EPA/play and success rate. Only the 49ers rank better than the Chiefs in net EPA/play this season. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are 10-1-1 ATS as road underdogs over the years. The Chiefs should go on the road and win this game.
