Best NHL Player Props Today
Mason McTavish 1+ Point (-125)
McTavish has had a strong start to the new season, totaling nine points across the Blues’ first eight games. His nine points lead the team thus far, and he’s made a strong case for being a legitimate top-six 1C in this league for years to come. The Blues draw a matchup against the Jets on Tuesday night, a club that has allowed 3.00 goals against and 29.3 shots against per game. McTavish has notched at least one point in seven of eight outings this season; he leads the Blues in goals (5), and he ranks 15th in the NHL in points per 60. He also leads the team in shots (29), and I’d expect him to continue the offensive aggression tonight. If he continues to shoot, it can lead to rebound chances, and the Jets are tied for the fifth-highest percentage of goals against from rebounds.
You can target his shots on goal prop instead, which is also a great play. It is set at O/U 2.5 shots on goal and set at +105 odds, and McTavish has cleared 3+ SOG in six of eight outings this season.
Brandon Hagel 3+ Shots on Goal (-130)
Hagel leads the NHL in shots on goal per game and ranks eighth in shot attempts per game. At 5v5, he is tied for first in shots on goal per game and ranks 10th in shot attempts per game. Tonight is admittedly not a great matchup against the Golden Knights, who have allowed the seventh-fewest shots on goal per game this season. However, Hagel has cleared this line in each of his past three meetings against Vegas, and Tampa Bay has been aggressive offensively, ranking third in shots on goal per game. He has cleared this total in each of his past two outings, while averaging 7.0 shot attempts per game. This is going to be a heavyweight matchup between two great teams, and Hagel leads the Bolts in ice time per game, so his opportunities should be there.
