The NBA is officially back in action on Tuesday. The season tips off at 3 p.m. ET with an Eastern Conference battle, pitting Cade Cunningham and the Pistons against Jayson Tatum’s Celtics. Detroit’s offense went as its star point guard did last season – will he carry the load en route to another All-NBA campaign this year?

Here’s the top Cade Cunningham player prop on DraftKings Sportsbook for today’s Pistons vs. Celtics matchup.

Best Cade Cunningham prop bet pick

Over the last couple of seasons, Cade Cunningham has taken the leap to superstardom right before out eyes. He truly blossomed during the 2024-25 campaign, when he led the Pistons to the postseason for the first time in half a decade while operating as one of the best on-ball guards in the league. While his scoring took a slight downtick last year, he still posted 23.9 points, 9.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game and earned All-NBA honors. This time, he took Detroit two rounds deep into the postseason before eventually falling in the conference semis.

Now seasoned after a couple of playoff appearances and a series win, Cunningham is now looking to lead his team to the promised land. The Pistons’ journey begins with a date against the Celtics this afternoon, so the first matchup of the year won’t be an easy one.

Last season, Boston’s defense was superb. The unit ranked fourth in DEFRTG across the regular season and conceded just 107.2 PPG to opponents, the fewest of any team in the NBA. Not only that, but opposing sides shot just 44.2% from the field, the second-lowest FG% allowed, as well. Now, the Celtics have added former Knicks center Mitchell Robinson to the starting five, providing excellent rim deterrence in the paint down low.

However, there are avenues for Cunningham to succeed here tonight. Against Boston last season, he averaged 28.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.3 assists over the course of four matchups. While his FG% of 42.7% was down compared to his season-long average, he did shoot 42.9% from deep against the Celtics, up massively from his 34.2% overall mark. He averaged 7.0 three-point attempts per game and 3.0 makes from distance. That’s exactly what we’re targeting this afternoon.

The opposing defense will be tough, even at the perimeter with Derrick White and Paul George likely taking the matchup against Cunningham. However, he hit at least three shots from beyond the arc in two of those games last year. The Celtics notably allowed the fourth-most 3PA per game last season and fell 16th in opponent 3P% at 35.8% – given the volume Cunningham took against them in the past and the boost to their interior defense heading into the new season, he should attack from deep here. I expect volume to get him over this line of 2.5 made threes at plus value.

Best bet: Cade Cunningham over 2.5 3PM (+130)
