In the midst of an endless cultural debate about artificial intelligence, it only feels right that VisionQuest has finally made it on the air. The newest show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe picked up where WandaVision and Agatha All Along left off, to say nothing of how it could play into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The first two episodes featured plenty of table-setting for the season ahead, but also some shocking developments and deaths that really kicked the story into full gear.
If you have already been swept up in the action and Vision’s family drama, here is everything you need to know before VisionQuest Episodes 3 and 4 drop:
When do VisionQuest Episodes 3 and 4 come out?
Episodes 3 and 4 of VisionQuest will premiere on Disney+ at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 20. Episode 3 is reportedly about 52 minutes long, while Episode 4 is expected to come in around 48 minutes. The episodes are titled “Reboot” and “Malware,” respectively.
Marvel has utilized multiple release strategies when it comes to Disney+ shows in recent years. Wonder Man was a binge drop back in January, while both seasons of Daredevil: Born Again have released episodes weekly. VisionQuest is going to release two episodes in each of its first three weeks on the air, then give Episodes 7 and 8 their own weeks to breathe.
(Warning: Spoilers for WandaVision and Agatha All Along ahead.)
Who will show up this week?
One of the few familiar faces – at least to fans of Agent Carter and eagle-eyed viewers of Avengers: Endgame – bit the dust in Episode 2. On top of that, a new character met a swift end in Episode 1. With those characters off the board, here is a look at who could appear in the next batch of VisionQuest episodes:
- Paul Bettany as Vision
- James Spader as Ultron
- Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff / Thomas Shepherd a.k.a. Speed
- Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari
- Todd Stashwick as Paladin
- Diane Morgan as The Handler
- Faran Tahir as Raza
- Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y.
- Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H.
- Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E
- Jonathan Sayer as U
- T’Nia Miller as Jocasta
- TBD as Jim Hammond / The Human Torch
What to expect in VisionQuest Episodes 3 and 4
Vision’s undercover life in Edinburgh ended with a bang in Episode 1 when Paladin and his team stormed the bar he had been working at. They were only able to find the android because Ultron, whose code still lives in Vision’s mind, tipped off the bounty hunter. The evil robot claimed he did it to speed up the inevitable, since someone had already hired Paladin to hunt Vision down, but he may have had other motivations. We still don’t know who hired Paladin, after all – all we have to go off of is a disguised voice coming from someone who can hack his comms and S.W.O.R.D. satellites.
Flushing Vision out of hiding helped Paladin find Thomas Shepherd, a teenager living in London with a fellow runaway named Lisa. In the Agatha All Along finale, Billy Maximoff put the soul shard of his twin brother, Tommy, into Thomas’ body as he was drowning. Now, this new Tommy basically has split personalities and some kind of super-speed powers. Paladin eventually caught Tommy and set a trap for Vision. While Vision was able to break Tommy out, Paladin hit him with an EMP and adamantium bullets. The last remnants of a virtual J.A.R.V.I.S. had to sacrifice himself and divert his processing power to keeping Vision alive just long enough for Tommy to get his pseudo-father to safety.
Vision and Tommy are now on the run together, with Paladin and Paladin’s mysterious patron both tracking them down. We also know that another android named Jocasta is going to show up at some point this season, as will Jim Hammond – the original MCU android who goes by The Human Torch and was alluded to via a painting in Vision’s mind mansion in Episode 2.
