There were only two teams to finish the regular season with at least 100 wins. The two-time reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers racked up 100 wins while the Milwaukee Brewers led all of baseball with 103 wins. The teams were top three in batting average, walk rate, wOBA and wRC+. Offensively, the big difference was that the Dodgers were sixth in ISO while the Brewers were only 25th. As for the pitching, Los Angeles had the second-lowest FIP while Milwaukee was right behind in fourth.
Well, through three games of the NLCS, Los Angeles slashed .165/.264/.187 with no home runs, 12 walks and 25 strikeouts. Milwaukee slashed .281/.373/.458 with five home runs, 13 walks and 35 strikeouts.
On Thursday, the Dodgers put up a four-spot in the second inning after Shohei Ohtani finally went yard for a three-run home run. But Milwaukee scored two in the fourth, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the ninth to finish the sweep of the Dodgers. Milwaukee racked up five hits and hit another home run.
Milwaukee was the best team in the regular season and emphatically showed that they were the best team in the National League. Now they wait for the winner of the Tampa Bay/Cleveland series on the AL side of the bracket.
