With the international break behind us, it’s time to get back into the Premier League grind. Matchweek Six ends with Newcastle traveling to face recently promoted Coventry. Both teams are looking to make big steps this season, and these young squads will fight hard for all three points.

Newcastle are +110 moneyline favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a draw at +255. Coventry’s moneyline is set at +230.

Let’s get into a pick and prediction for this game.

Coventry vs. Newcastle Prediction, Pick

The start to this season has been awfully trying for Coventry. Fresh off a promotion, the fight to stay in the Premier League starts on Matchday One, with every point counting. Losing their first four matches by a combined 10-0 margin didn’t inspire confidence among the fans. When things looked dire before the international break, Frank Lampard’s side desperately needed momentum as they headed to Nottingham for their last match. Jay Dasilva’s tie-breaking goal gave them all three points and a spark of hope.

Newcastle are much more enthused about their start to the season. They’re 4-2-1 across seven competitive matches this season, including two EFL Cup victories and crucial results against Liverpool (draw) and Tottenham (win). The attack has been the story of the season; Newcastle have scored in all seven matches and have 13 total goals this season. Matthias Jaissle’s side can deploy a deep attack between Harvey Barnes, Anthony Elanga, Yoane Wissa, and Jacob Murphy. The real story has been Lewis Hall taking a next step, as the left-back solidifies his two-way stardom with each passing match.

Coventry’s back line is the story here. With Newcastle off and flying while the Sky Blues struggle to defend, things could get ugly if they can’t contain it. Veteran center-back Ethan Pinnock has to set the tone, as their young back line has potential but lacks organization. Leadership from the senior players is key for a side in a year-long relegation fight. Goalkeeper Karl Rushworth’s ability to stand on his head would go a long way towards securing points in this tough spot.

Lewis Hall finds himself in a crucial position here for Newcastle. The left-back spends an awful long time on the ball for the Magpies, and they’ll need him against Coventry’s three-man back line. Their wingers like to get involved defensively, and if Hall’s passing can get in behind them, their attacking group can get to work.

At the end of the day, Coventry’s defensive shortcomings are too much to overlook here. Newcastle’s relentless attack will break down the doors, and I don’t see the Blues having the punch to fight back. This should be a comfortable three points for the Magpies, even if they don’t bring their A game.

Best Bet: Newcastle Moneyline (+110)
