UPDATE: Henderson has now been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders.
UPDATE: TreVeyon Henderson is questionable to return to the game with an ankle injury.
Rhamondre Stevenson will carry the load in the meanwhile.
TreVeyon Henderson left Sunday’s game against the Raiders after an 11-yard run play. He made a brief stop in the blue medical tent before promptly heading to the locker room, which would suggest he’s under some further evaluation.
The second-year back entered Sunday with 141 rushing yards and one touchdown on 38 carries across three appearances, having missed the season opener with an ankle injury. Henderson averaged 3.7 yards per carry in those games, down from 5.1 during his 911-yard rookie season. Last week against Buffalo, he carried 14 times for 42 yards as New England pulled out a 29-26 win.
If Henderson cannot return, Rhamondre Stevenson would likely shoulder more of the rushing workload, with Cory Kiner available behind him. Stevenson entered the game with his own health concern: a knee injury sustained late in the Buffalo win, though the Patriots cleared him to play Sunday. With A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins already on injured reserve, losing Henderson would further narrow Drake Maye’s options.
