Texas vs. Oklahoma Player Prop Best Bets
Ryan Wingo Anytime Touchdown (+175)
Ryan Wingo has been a great weapon for Arch Manning over the past couple of seasons. Much was made about Texas acquiring Cam Coleman, the WR1 in the transfer portal. However, Wingo has been Manning’s top target so far this season. Wingo leads the Longhorns in both receptions and receiving yards. He caught six balls for 74 yards last week against a tough Tennessee defense.
The Oklahoma defense is the best in the country, ranking first in defensive EPA/play. While it’s nitpicking, they have been a bit better against the run than the pass. The Sooners rank first in the country in defensive rushing success rate and seventh in defensive passing success rate. It will be tough for Texas to score, but when in doubt, Arch Manning should go to his dependable favorite target. Wingo is the type of dynamic playmaker that can be used in the running game and on trick plays, which is the type of creativity Texas might need to find the end zone in this game.
John Mateer Anytime Touchdown (+220)
John Mateer’s season has been incredibly disappointing. Oklahoma’s season is on the line in this game, and Mateer could even be benched if the Sooners suffer another loss. He should put it all on the line in this rivalry game to try to salvage his season and his college career. Mateer is a good running quarterback and will use his legs often in big games. Against Michigan earlier this season, he ran the ball 13 times for 45 yards. He has had double-digit rushing attempts in each of his past three games. Oklahoma is also coming off a bye week, so Mateer should be physically fresh and ready to run until he can’t run anymore in this game.
Mateer has yet to run for a touchdown this season, but scored eight rushing touchdowns last season. Many of those rushing scores came in Oklahoma’s biggest games against Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan and Alabama again in the College Football Playoff. This is a game where Mateer should put everything on the line, and he should have a good chance to find the end zone with his legs.
