Texas A&M Aggies vs. Missouri Tigers pick, prediction for College Football Week 6 on Saturday 10/10/26

Few teams in the nation have fallen short of expectations like Texas A&M (3-2, 1-2). After a playoff appearance in 2025, Mike Elko’s squad has looked far less formidable this season. Still, with plenty of marquee games remaining on their schedule, the Aggies will have opportunities to bolster their resume. That includes Saturday’s matchup with #14 Missouri (4-1, 1-1). The Tigers look like they’re on the verge of a breakthrough, having just throttled #16 Florida. Still, this is the SEC; upsets are a weekly occurrence. Which side will come out on top during this afternoon’s matchup in Columbia?

The Tigers are listed as 3.5-point favorites over the Aggies, with the total set at O/U 48.5 points. Below is my full preview, prediction and best bet for Saturday’s Texas A&M vs. Missouri Week 6 matchup.

Texas A&M vs. Missouri prediction, preview

As previously mentioned, things have not gone according to plan in College Station. A once-dangerous Aggies offense has fallen flat on its face, averaging the SEC’s fourth-fewest yards per game (356.2). Dismal showings against conference foes such as LSU and Kentucky have raised doubts about this roster’s chances of finishing above .500, let alone competing for a CFP spot. Most of the blame can be directed towards quarterback Marcel Reed, who hasn’t looked sharp. Over five games, the senior has thrown for 908 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. On paper, those aren’t terrible numbers. However, a good chunk of that yardage has been accrued during garbage time. Reed is averaging just 5.69 adjusted yards gained per pass attempt, a stark drop-off from his mark of 8.30 AY/A last season. The status of wide receiver Mario Craver (ankle), listed as questionable, is something to monitor before kickoff.

If there’s a glimmer of hope for this offense, the run game remains decent. Halfbacks Rueben Owens and KJ Edwards have combined for 472 rushing yards over five games. That’s without mentioning Reed, who has also gained 170 yards with his legs. Still, don’t bank on a prolific performance on the ground this afternoon. Missouri has dominated in the trenches, holding opponents to just 2.61 yards per carry. That’s the fourth-best mark among all SEC programs. It’s no fluke, either; the school ranked fifth in the conference in that category last season. When facing Mizzou last Saturday, no Florida player gained more than 17 rushing yards. The Tigers have been almost as stingy through the air, giving up a meager 6.4 yards per pass attempt. In addition, they’ve snagged six interceptions.

At full strength, Missouri’s offense is a well-oiled machine. Unfortunately, superstar running back Ahmad Hardy (leg) has yet to make an appearance this season; he’s unlikely to suit up this weekend. Regardless, Eli Drinkwitz’s team has managed to keep the ball moving. That’s due in large part to quarterback Austin Simmons, one of the nation’s most underrated signal callers. Through five games, the senior has thrown for 1,287 yards and 13 touchdowns. Even more impressive, he has yet to cough up an interception. Tigers pass catchers Cayden Lee and Donovan Olugbode have combined for 929 receiving yards and ten touchdowns. Backup running back Jamal Roberts has done an admirable job filling in for Hardy as well. He’s churned out 606 rushing yards and six touchdowns on an SEC-leading 113 carries.

Defense remains a strength for Texas A&M, albeit not quite as overpowering compared to last season’s group. The team is allowing 312.8 total yards per game to opponents, seventh-best in the conference. However, they’ve done a poor job when it comes to generating pressure. The Aggies have recorded an SEC-worst 5.0 sacks so far. Any defense that doesn’t create big plays has a limited ceiling. Keep in mind, Kentucky and LSU didn’t have much difficulty moving the ball against TAMU. The Aggies haven’t been great defending the run, giving up over 4.0 yards per carry. A physical, hard-nosed Missouri offensive line could clear some lanes for Roberts this afternoon.

Best Bet: Missouri -3.5 (-105)

With most of the public backing Mizzou, it’s tempting to put a wager on the Aggies today. After all, this group is clearly more talented than what it’s shown so far. However, this is a difficult spot to earn a win on the road. Missouri is a multi-dimensional offense, capable of beating teams on the ground or through the air. The former approach, against a suspect Texas A&M run defense, makes sense on Saturday. Back the Tigers to earn a second straight SEC victory at home.
