Beau Pribula has made Virginia’s passing game remarkably efficient through four games. He has completed 66 of 86 attempts, an excellent 76.7%, with 11 touchdowns against one interception. The Cavaliers have been able to finish possessions through the air as well as sustain them. Florida State will have to make Pribula hold the ball longer than he would like, because another afternoon of clean intermediate completions could become expensive quickly. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s college football game between the Florida State Seminoles and the Virginia Cavaliers.
Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

FSU vs. Virginia prediction, preview
That part of the field is where I expect Virginia to find their best opportunities. Those completions have produced more than nine yards per attempt, enough progress to keep Virginia moving through the playbook and make the next defensive adjustment uncomfortable. Florida State have been vulnerable on those intermediate routes. Virginia can make the linebackers account for the run, then ask Pribula to find the space behind them as the receivers work across the field.
There are good reasons to resist an automatic over. Florida State can lean on their running game for time-consuming drives, and Virginia are making their first road trip. Florida State have also gone under in three of four games, with a 1-2-1 ATS record accompanying their uneven start. The Seminoles face Louisville and Miami next, adding urgency to this home date. I expect them to make offensive adjustments, though the schedule alone provides no evidence that those adjustments will work.
Florida State should have a productive answer on the ground. Ousmane Kromah has already rushed for 397 yards and five touchdowns, and Virginia’s defensive averages need some opponent context. West Virginia ran for nearly 250 yards against the Cavaliers. That performance leaves me reluctant to project Florida State spending the afternoon trapped in long-yardage situations. Kromah should have enough successful early carries to keep the Seminoles calling their full offense, including play-action throws off the same running looks.
Virginia vs. FSU pick, best bet
Ashton Daniels introduces considerably more uncertainty than Pribula. His five interceptions are a costly concern alongside six touchdown passes, especially when Florida State need to finish possessions rather than surrender them near scoring range. My 27-point forecast for the Seminoles depends on Kromah sustaining the ground game and Daniels protecting a few more of those scoring chances. Virginia’s own passing efficiency should keep Daniels involved into the second half. A substantial Seminoles lead, followed by a long stretch of conservative offense, looks less likely to me.
The matchup offers the stronger argument: Virginia can throw efficiently against this secondary, and Florida State can run against a defense West Virginia already challenged. Those are independent ways to generate scoring, and my forecast puts both teams in the upper twenties. I’ll take over 51.5 with Virginia winning 30-27. Daniels’ turnovers remain the principal concern. Kromah can help Florida State finish their longer drives, and I expect Pribula to keep answering well into the fourth quarter.
Best bet: Over 51.5 (-115)
Projected score: Virginia 30, Florida State 27
Best Bet: Florida State vs. Virginia o51.5 total points scored (-115)
