Auburn Tigers at Tennessee Volunteers (Saturday – 3:30pm ET)
The Vols had been sitting at -7 all week, and with a dip to -6.5 on Friday night, I’m adding it to my card. The first true test for Tennessee in SEC play came down to the wire against Texas. Sure, Faizon Brandon had some struggles with getting the ball out quick enough, but that was against an elite Longhorns’ pass rush. It was a good learning experience, and I expect the offense to look a lot more decisive at home this week against Auburn.
The Tigers have not been impressive this season. Maybe not getting completely blown out by Florida was the best showing Auburn has had yet. Baylor does not look like a good team, and Auburn was fortunate to win that Week 1 game in Atlanta on the final snap. The Tigers did the bare minimum to scrape by against Vandy in the bounce-back game following the Florida loss.
I’m just not buying into this USF offense transferring over to Auburn and lighting up the SEC. It’s been very lackluster thus far, and Byrum Brown has been mistake prone. Tennessee’s defense looked elite against Texas, and I expect them to really limit the Tigers in this game. I’ll lay inside the TD with the Vols to bounce-back at home against an SEC squad that is still getting a bit too much respect in the market. Auburn is 0-3 ATS against power conferences.
CFB Pick: Tennessee -6.5 (-112)
