Josh Allen More Than 0.5 Rushing + Receiving Touchdowns
Josh Allen has started this season at an MVP level. He ranks fifth in the NFL in passing yards, has a 5-0 TD-INT ratio and ranks second in QBR. However, it’s his legs that have really been the star of the show despite his stellar passing game. Allen has rushed for two touchdowns in each of the first two games of the season. He has 20 carries for 92 yards and four touchdowns to start the season. Allen is now tied with Marshawn Lynch for 17th on the all-time rushing touchdown list. He is an incredible runner and has a great instinct for when to tuck it and go when he is in the red zone.
Allen should score a rushing touchdown for the third consecutive game in this matchup with the Chargers. The Chargers’ defense, which performed at such a high level last season, has been quite disappointing to start this season. They rank 18th in the NFL in defensive EPA/play and should struggle to slow down Allen. The Bills rank first in the NFL in offensive EPA/play by a wide margin. They should keep it rolling in this spot at home and Allen should scamper for another touchdown or two.
Dalton Schultz More Than 5.5 Receptions
Dalton Schultz was the go-to guy for C.J. Stroud last week. In Week 1, Stroud was force-feeding his star receiver, Nico Collins. Collins is the figure that makes this Houston offense click. Without him, the offense is nowhere near as effective. That was evident last week, and Stroud just used Schultz as his safety blanket. He ended up getting an astonishing 14 targets in that game against the Bengals. He caught 12 of those 14 targets for 140 yards. While Schultz might not hit those egregious numbers again in this game, he should lead the team in targets again with Collins sidelined for a second straight week.
The Colts’ defense ranks 30th in EPA/play and 28th in success rate so far this season. Stroud should be able to dink-and-dunk it down the field to Schultz again this week, allowing him to comfortably clear this number.
Denzel Boston More Than 49.5 Receiving Yards
Denzel Boston has quietly been one of the breakout rookie stars of this season. The Browns looked horrific in Week 1, but Boston scored the team’s lone touchdown of the game on a 46-yard explosive passing play. Cleveland bounced back and won on the road in Tampa Bay in Week 2. Boston was a huge part of that offensive success, making five catches for 95 yards and another touchdown. Now, Boston has never played an NFL game and not scored a touchdown – that must be a nice feeling for the rookie. He should keep it rolling against this questionable Carolina secondary.
The Panthers played the disastrous Cooper Rush and Jack Strand-led Falcons in Week 2, allowing them to salvage some of their awful defensive numbers. However, this is the same unit that gave up 59 points to the Bears at home in Week 1. Carolina is now headed on the road to Cleveland to face a Browns team that should be feeling good after last week’s win. Deshaun Watson should continue to look to Boston, who has been a revelation through two weeks. Boston has at least 50 receiving yards in both games so far in his rookie season, and he should make it three straight games hitting that milestone on Sunday.
