The 2026-27 NHL season has arrived, which brings us back to our weekly Boston Bruins DraftKings fantasy hockey previews. The Bruins finished with a 45-27-10 record and 100 points last season, returning to the playoffs under Marco Sturm following a one-year absence. During the offseason, Boston added JJ Peterka, Will Borgen and Connor Clifton, while Viktor Arvidsson, Joonas Korpisalo, Andrew Peeke and Fabian Lysell departed. David Pastrnak remains the centerpiece of Boston’s offense, while Jeremy Swayman will once again anchor the club between the pipes.
The Bruins begin their new campaign on opening night Tuesday against the New York Rangers at TD Garden, visit the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild for a Friday-Saturday back-to-back, and return home to face the Ottawa Senators on Monday. How the new additions mesh with Boston’s established core and what James Hagens’ first full NHL season will look like remain the early storylines to watch.

Rangers vs. Bruins Matchup Preview for September 29
- The New York Rangers finished last season eighth in the Metropolitan Division and 16th in the Eastern Conference with a 34-39-9 record, 77 points and a -12 goal differential.
- The Rangers reshaped their roster after finishing last in the Metropolitan Division last season. New York added winger Pavel Dorofeyev and defensemen Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson, while Vincent Trocheck and Will Borgen were among its notable departures. Dorofeyev is expected to join Mika Zibanejad, Alexis Lafrenière, J.T. Miller and Adam Fox on a power play that ranked among the NHL’s best last season.
- Opening night could feature some familiar faces for these two teams. Borgen could make his Bruins debut against his former club, while former Boston goaltender Joonas Korpisalo is competing for the backup role behind Igor Shesterkin. The Rangers won two of three meetings with Boston last season, with the Bruins’ lone victory coming in dominant fashion, winning 10-2 at TD Garden.
Bruins vs. Jets Matchup Preview for October 2
- The Winnipeg Jets finished last season seventh in the Central Division and 12th in the Western Conference with a 35-35-12 record, 82 points and a -29 goal differential.
- Winnipeg’s biggest question heading into the new season is its goaltending situation, with Connor Hellebuyck requesting a trade during the offseason and ultimately being suspended after failing to report to training camp. The Jets added Stuart Skinner as another option, but Hellebuyck’s uncertain status significantly changes the outlook for a team that allowed 3.12 goals per game last season.
- The Jets still return their two leading offensive players, Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor. Scheifele recorded a career-high 103 points last season, while Connor led the team with 39 goals. Boston swept both meetings with Winnipeg last season, winning by a combined score of 12-4, but this matchup begins the Bruins’ first road trip of the season.
Bruins vs. Wild Matchup Preview for October 3
- The Minnesota Wild finished last season third in both the Central Division and Western Conference with a 46-24-12 record, 104 points and a +32 goal differential.
- Boston faces its most difficult schedule spot of the week in Minnesota, as the club will be playing its second road game in as many nights, while the Wild return a core that produced 104 points and reached the second round of the playoffs last season.
- Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy combined for 87 goals, while Quinn Hughes recorded 53 points in 48 games after joining Minnesota. The Wild also acquired Blake Coleman and Olli Maatta from Calgary during the offseason. Between the pipes, Jesper Wallstedt is pushing for a larger role after posting a .916 save percentage and taking over the crease during the playoffs. Boston and Minnesota split their two meetings last season.
Senators vs. Bruins Matchup Preview for October 5
- The Ottawa Senators finished last season fifth in the Atlantic Division and sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 44-27-11 record, 99 points and a +32 goal differential.
- The week closes with Boston’s first Atlantic Division game and its third contest in four days. Ottawa finished one point behind the Bruins last season but controlled the head-to-head series, winning three of four meetings.
- The Senators enter a new era after trading captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers. Ottawa used part of the return to acquire William Eklund, who recorded 53 points for San Jose last season, and also added Andre Burakovsky. Tim Stutzle remains the club’s centerpiece after leading with 34 goals and 83 points. How Ottawa replaces Tkachuk’s scoring and physical presence will be the defining storyline surrounding the club early in the season. It also certainly helps that Linus Ullmark had time to recharge and get his mind right, as he dealt with a rollercoaster of a 2025 campaign, which resulted in a personal leave of absence from the team to address his mental health.
