Currently, the Phillies hold a one-game advantage over the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final Wild Card seed in the National League. It once looked nearly a foregone conclusion that Philadelphia would earn this chance. Still, the Phillies have lost three straight — scoring just two runs in that span — to put their postseason hopes in jeopardy. The Diamondbacks are on a six-game winning streak and will face the San Diego Padres on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 8:40 p.m. ET. As a sign of their urgency, the Phillies are starting Aaron Nola on just two days’ rest.
The Tampa Bay Rays have already clinched their postseason opportunity by winning the American League East. They enter Saturday at 97-63.
Looking at the odds, the Phillies enter as 1.5-run home favorites with -127 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Rays are +106 to pull off the upset, with the game total set at seven runs.
