We’re only four hours into The Traitors: New Blood, and things are only getting more chaotic. After Thursday’s third and fourth episodes, which names should fans be keeping an eye on going forward? Let’s take a look at who helped, or hurt, their chances this week at winning The Traitors: New Blood.

Biggest Risers
Joe
After the first week, I wasn’t loving Joe’s game. He possesses a pretty commanding personality, which doesn’t inspire much confidence for Traitor longevity. In addition, he appeared somewhat flustered and overly chatty following the first Round Table of the season. With that being said, episodes three and four provided more hope for his chances. For starters, Joe got his way during the Traitors tryouts. He and Tomica opted to go with Katie inside of the turret, sending home a gamer in Xavier.
Later on in episode three, Joe defended Katie from some heat. That may have kept his fellow Traitor safe from imminent doom. To boot, he formed a strong bond with Michael during the Round Table, claiming that the lawyer was someone he trusts almost implicitly. That led to an emotional embrace between the two following Arissa’s banishment. I’m not ready to proclaim that Joe is going all the way, but Thursday’s showing was a step in the right direction. On the downside, there may come a point where he can’t save Katie. Will Joe recognize that in the moment? Tune in next week to find out.
Shane
We haven’t heard much from Shane, but that isn’t a bad thing. He’s a stoic personality type, which is needed on a cast with such big personalities. Instead of jumping to conclusions, he’s been content to process information from the shadows. Right now, your average fan of The Traitors probably doesn’t know what his name is. That’s actually a compliment; lying low is almost always a positive this early in the season.
It also is important that other players themselves trust Shane. Sherry was singing his praises in episode four, implying he was a straight shooter that would only go after another player if he had a good hunch. Xavier’s effort to frame Katie seems to be paying off, albeit with the former eliminated. Shane brought up X’s theory to Sherry before the Round Table vote. With the way things are trending, it wouldn’t be a shock to see her voted off next week. Should that occur, anyone on the right side of the vote would gain some credibility. Shane isn’t doing anything shocking or game-changing, but playing it cool has skyrocketed his place on these power rankings.
Biggest Fallers
Michael
Call me crazy, but I just don’t love the guns blazing style Michael is displaying early. He and Logan have been aligned on several targets, but the latter is playing things in a much smarter manner. During this week’s banishment, he went hard after both Arissa and Victor. Neither of those players, as we know, are Traitors. Getting it wrong isn’t the end of the world, but being loudly wrong twice could create issues. Fortunately, he appears well positioned (for now) in the Dolls alliance. However, even ally Ben is growing a bit suspicious.
To be clear, I think Michael is a smart guy and pretty endearing. His moment with Joe was touching, even while knowing the latter is a Traitor in disguise. However, there’s a limit to the lawyer’s current prosecution of his fellow cast mates. Being the unofficial ‘traitor catcher’ has its benefits, but those players rarely make it to the end. That’s not to mention someone getting it wrong with that much conviction is a scary thought for everyone in the house. If Michael helped swing votes on two innocent players, what’s stopping that from happening to someone else? For a player with so much potential, he needs to play the long game going forward. A glimmer of hope? He’s intrigued by Jay’s proposition of Katie as a Traitor. Speaking of which…
Jay
Nobody tanked their stock more than Jay this week. He’s playing a ‘big-brained’ strategy that involves sowing doubt and wreaking havoc across the castle. His long term plan is to earn trust from the Traitors, making them think twice about putting him up for murder. However, that level of chaos is short-sighted at best. This reached a boiling point during the mission, in which he was unwilling to put himself up for murder and constantly mentioning that he had a name. During the Round Table prior, he brought up out of nowhere that he was a body language expert. However, that didn’t lead to any tangible name.
Granted, Jay’s hunch when it comes to Katie is accurate. If she goes home, he could earn some respect from other players. With that being said, there’s a limit to how patient everyone else will be. Not to mention, Jay’s grand strategy only accounts for half of the game. Faithfuls vote other Faithfuls out all the time, even ones they don’t suspect of being a Traitor. Players that serve as a distraction might be even more damaging to everyone else’s game.
