America’s Got Talent capped off an explosive season with one last round of amazing performances on Tuesday night, with each contestant showing what they had in store with $1 million on the line. Now that the fans at home have voted, the acts have reconvened to find out who has emerged as the winner of Season 21’s grand prize.

After a recap of Tuesday’s performances, KPop Demon Hunters‘ Rei Ami sang her new single “Too Loud” alongside finalist dance group Come Here. Then, Steve Aoki DJ’d a crossover performance of robot dance group Unitree and light-up dance group Royal Lasers. They weren’t the only finalists to join forces for the finale, either, as Acro Canine Crew and dog trainer Olivia Befus both performed with YouTuber Lele Pons. Josh Grobin, meanwhile, covered Adele’s “Skyfall” during Veronika Goroshkova’s final aerial performance.
Geno Ploeger teamed up with another magician in Mat Franco, who won Season 9. Magician group Hundred Fingers put together a performance of their own with pianist Chloe Flower providing the soundtrack. To cap things off, Nene Royal performed Linkin Park’s “The Empiness Machine” with the band themselves and Lai Noelle sang a duet with Season 20 winner and former American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez.
All of that killed time before the voting results themselves came out. Come Here, Olivia Befus, Lai Noelle, Unitree and Acro Canine Crew were the first five acts to got the bad news Wednesday night. Their respective journeys on AGT Season 21 are now over. Veronika Goroshkova finished in fifth place, followed by Royal Lasers in fourth. Hundred Fingers came in third, prompting judge Howie Mendel to commit to producing a show for them in Las Vegas himself. Finally, Geno Ploeger came in second.
Who won America’s Got Talent?
Unsurprisingly, the announcement of who won AGT was held until the end of the two-hour show. Hard rock singer and guitarist Nene Royal ultimately received the most fan votes, winning the $1 million prize in the process.
What happened to Simon Cowell?
One of the four celebrity judges, Simon Cowell, has not been on the panel since the week of Quarterfinals 2. Longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thompson served as Cowell’s stand-in for the Quarterfinals 3 performances, while former AGT judge Heidi Klum replaced Cowell for Quarterfinals 4. There was not a guest judge in Cowell’s place for the semifinals, but British YouTuber KSI stepped in for the finale.
Cowell, 66, underwent a routine medical procedure in August and has been absent from America’s Got Talent as a result. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cowell had the surgery to address back issues. He initially started having back problems in August 2020, when he got in an electric bike accident and required fusion surgery.
