While Adult Swim has already renewed President Curtis for a second season, the Rick and Morty spinoff is nearing the end of its debut season. The whacky sci-fi hijinks have carried over from the original show, but with less existentialism and more tacky sitcom resolutions.

When does President Curtis Season 1 Episode 9 come out?
President Curtis Season 1 Episode 9 will premiere on Adult Swim at 11:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 20. The episode, which is titled Synth, will have a runtime around 25 minutes. It will be available to stream on HBO Max on Monday, September 21.
As was the case with the past eight seasons of Rick and Morty, President Curtis Season 1 will be 10 episodes long. It won’t be a miniseries, either, since Adult Swim has already renewed the show for Season 2.

Who will show up this episode?
President Curtis has quickly established its core cast of characters, introducing plenty of fresh faces to surround Curtis himself. As for the titular character, he has had the same voice actor since debuting in Rick and Morty Season 2. And while the supporting cast has been largely stuck in the background, there are some recognizable voices rounding out the group. Adam Pally, John Michael Higgins, Billy Zane, Gillian Jacobs, Janeane Garofalo, Jane Lynch, Timothy Simons, Sam Richardson and Mikey Day are among the celebrities who have popped up so far.
What to expect in President Curtis Season 1 Episode 9
Based on the early preview for Episode 9, we are in for a holiday-themed main plot. Curtis fights a villain called “The Humbugler” – a bug man keen on destroying Christmas – alongside Banks, O’Doyle and Finch. They successfully defeat him in a battle at the mall on Black Friday, but nobody was there to begin with. It turns out that Spiritonium saturation is dwindling, so the gang has to keep it from dipping below 10% and ruining Christmas for good. O’Doyle is a bit of a Scrooge and doesn’t seem too interested in chipping in, leaving Finch and his gadgets to step into the spotlight. The episode’s synopsis is as follows:
“With Christmas spirit at an all-time low across the country, Curtis attempts to find a fix by deploying a group of synthetic beings, custom-designed to spread cheer.”

Adult Swim renewed President Curtis for Season 2 long before the show premiered. Back in March 2026, Variety reported that California awarded a $3 million tax credit to the production of President Curtis Season 2. The renewal was publicly confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con in July.
Will there be another season of Rick and Morty?
Adult Swim renewed Rick and Morty for Season 10 back in 2023, then through Season 12 in 2024. That will take the show through at least 2029, per Variety. There is also a feature-length Rick and Morty movie in the works.
