A 15-game MLB slate is on tap for Saturday. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Saturday?

Blue Jays vs. Rangers NRFI (-135)
Midseason addition Jose Soriano has been a solid addition to this Blue Jays pitching staff. Over eight starts with his new club, the right-hander has notched a 4.27 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 32 strikeouts (6.2 K/9). Although those numbers aren’t outstanding, we’re not backing Soriano over the course of an entire game. He comes into this one with an impressive 17-game NRFI streak intact. The Dominican has allowed two runs over 11.2 innings (1.54 ERA) against today’s opponents, the Rangers. Texas owns a below-average 29.22% YRFI rate as well.
As for the home team, Cal Quantrill will be the man on the mound this evening. It’s been a terrific season for the right-hander, splitting time between the rotation and bullpen. Through 108.2 innings pitched, he’s delivered a 2.90 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 81 strikeouts (6.7 K/9). The Canadian has allowed a first inning run only twice over 14 starts (85.7% NRFI). Now, he gets to face one of the league’s most disappointing lineups. Toronto is averaging 4.03 runs per game, second-fewest in baseball. In addition, the Blue Jays have posted an MLB-worst 24.03% YRFI rate.
Yankees vs. Diamondbacks NRFI (-135)
Cam Schlittler will take the hill for New York tonight, looking to bolster his AL Cy Young campaign. Over 184.2 innings (31 starts), the fireballing righty has produced a 1.95 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 228 strikeouts (11.1 K/9). The superstar has allowed one earned run or less in each of his previous seven appearances. Unsurprisingly, he’s accounted for a terrific 87.1% NRFI rate. In comparison, Arizona’s lineup has been inconsistent at best lately. The team has scored a National League-worst 54 runs during the month of September. Diamondbacks hitters have recorded a 27.27% YRFI rate, tied for seventh-worst in baseball.
The Snakes will counter with Brandon Pfaadt, making his 18th start of 2026. Through 124.0 innings of work, he’s put up a 3.77 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 84 strikeouts (6.1 K/9). Even more important is a stellar 82.3% NRFI rate. New York’s lineup, in spite of Friday’s nine-run outburst, can struggle at times. That’s especially true when playing away from home. The Yankees have notched a 24.05% YRFI rate on the road, eighth-lowest in the majors. Against one of Arizona’s better pitchers, the odds are against two straight games with a first inning run.
