The Cliffs at Walnut Cove (par 71, 7,249 yards, Bentgrass/POA greens) in Arden, North Carolina, is hosting the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and has never hosted a PGA TOUR event before. There will be 132 golfers competing with a top-65 and ties cut this week.

Best Bets for the 2026 Biltmore Championship
Billy Horschel for a top-20 finish including ties (+200)
Horschel has had an underwhelming season, but the former FedExCup champion had a strong end to the summer, finishing T13th, MC and T12th. That final performance came at another North Carolina-based venue at Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Champinship; outside of around the greens, Horschel gained strokes in every major category at this tournament. The veteran shot 66 or lower in three of four rounds and should keep his foot on the gas at the Cliffs this week.
This par 71 is a Nicklaus design and Horschel ranks eighth in this field in strokes gained per round at Nicklaus courses, most impressively with a win at Muirfield Village in 2022. On top of being a strong fit for the Cliffs, Horschel should be highly motivated. He sits 100th in the FedEx Fall standings and only the top 100 earn their PGA TOUR cards for the 2027 season.
Horschel has held a PGA TOUR card since 2010, so losing this status would be devastating for the eight-time event winner who is still only 39 years old. Horschel should do everything in his power to have a strong fall swing, so beginning this stretch with a top-20 finish this week is a strong possibility.
Emiliano Grillo for a top-30 finish including ties (+126)
Grillo is another veteran who needs to have a strong fall swing to retain his PGA TOUR card, sitting 109th in the FedEx Fall standings. Grillo missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship in his last start, but he only did so by one stroke and had made seven straight cuts before this.
During that cut streak, Grillo finished T31st or better five times, including a T7 at the 3M Open and a T23 at the U.S. Open. The two-time PGA TOUR event winner impressively ranks third in total strokes gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, and he has succeeded at Nicklaus courses before, posting top-10 finishes at both PGA National and Muirfield Village.
Furthermore, Grillo has shined during the fall swing in the past, winning the 2015 Frys.com Open and finishing T4th at the Procore Championship last September. After the speed bump at the Wyndham Championship, Grillo should bounce back at the Biltmore Championship and safely finish inside the top-30.
