Last Seen Episode 3, “The Lie,” premieres Wednesday, September 16, on Apple TV. Ian Ridley (Patrick Brammall) has spent 11 years looking for his daughter, Maggie. After answering an emergency call from a teenager at work, he believes he may have finally spoken to her. He spent episode two chasing down the call.

As the family prepared for Maggie’s vigil, Ian asked his son, Dean, to help him look for her abductor. Dean remembered a stranger knocking at their door the night Maggie disappeared. Ian wanted him to hand out candles so he could look through the crowd for someone he recognized.
Then DNA tests showed that the remains police had discovered in the woods belonged to another child. Ian kept the news from his family because he still wanted to try his plan at the vigil. Detective Peña eventually told Maggie’s mother, Debbie, what the tests showed.
Henry and Jenna Reid had kept a teenage girl named Sarah (Chloe Jean Lourdes) isolated on their farm. Sarah’s friendship with a neighboring boy, Tommy, gave her a chance to leave, although their trip to a party soon frightened her.
At the party, Sarah saw a flyer about Maggie and remembered the nickname “Mags” from her own childhood. What if, she wondered, after all this time, she’d been the missing girl? After fleeing the party, she found a payphone and called emergency services.
Ian took the call and heard Sarah suggest that her name might be Mags. He drove to the phone booth to find her, but she had already gone.
