Kenneth Walker III will make his debut with the Kansas City Chiefs in a Monday Night matchup with the Denver Broncos tonight. The reigning Super Bowl MVP will look to provide some stability to the running back position that the Chiefs have been missing for several years.
Looking at the odds for the matchup, the Chiefs enter as 2.5-point favorites and hold -130 odds to win outright on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Broncos hold +110 odds to produce the upset, with the game total set at 43.5 points.

The biggest addition to the Chiefs this offseason was former Seahawks star Kenneth Walker III. It has been a revolving door of running backs over the past few seasons, and he will provide a necessary level of stability. Kansas City missed the postseason for the first time since 2014 last year, and Walker III will play a major part in the franchise returning to its desired standard, especially as Patrick Mahomes eases back from his ACL tear.
Walker III is coming off his first fully healthy season and played a vital role in the Seahawks’ Super Bowl accomplishment. He rushed for 1,027 yards on the ground and tallied 282 receiving yards, but was limited to a career-worst five touchdowns. Zach Charbonnet led the red zone production, recording 12 rushing scores on the season. Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in the postseason, paving Walker III to take his game to new heights. Across the three postseason wins, the Michigan State product tallied an NFL-best 313 rushing yards, 104 receiving yards, and recorded four touchdowns.
Without Charbonnet to vulture touchdown opportunities, expect Walker III to scale up his touchdown production this season. He tallied 27 touchdowns across his previous three seasons and has scored in his lone matchup with the Broncos in his career, which took place in 2024. Denver boasts a strong defense that finished last season ranked third in opponents’ points allowed and second in yards conceded. It is difficult to find a true weakness in this defensive unit, but expect Kansas City to prioritize their attack on the ground.
In addition to the strong personnel in the secondary for Denver, it is important for the Chiefs to establish a running game. So much of their offense is built around misdirection and play action, and it is necessary for the running game to open this up. Mahomes will also be knocking off some rust, with this being his first live game action in 274 days following his ACL tear. Walker III is the most talented running back Kansas City has had in several years, and expect a focused effort to get him settled in his debut game.
The pathway to scoring is difficult across the board against this Denver defense. But count on Walker III to have plenty of chances with the ball in his hands and for this to remain the case around the red zone. Count on the reigning Super Bowl MVP to be ever to return to the touchdowns threat he showed to be before last season and reach pay dirt in his Chiefs’ debut.
