Fantasy football returned to center stage with a massive Sunday slate of 12 games in Week 1, with plenty of exciting finishes and surprising results. It was a very high-scoring week, across the board, with the top scores in many contests soaring over 250 FPTS. In the featured NFL $3.5M FANTASY FOOTBALL MILLIONAIRE [$1M TO 1ST] contest, an entry from jwussow28 racked up 273.98 FPTS, which was more than five points clear of the rest of the field of 832,342. The top prize in the contest was a $1 Million prize, with just a $5 entry. The winning entry got fire performances from every spot on the roster, led by a vintage Derrick Henry performance.

Derrick Henry Claims His Crown
Sleeping on Derrick Henry (38.3 FPTS) seldom pays off, and in Week 1, King Henry reasserted his spot as one of the best running backs in the league. He moved into third all-time in rushing touchdowns with this score in the first half, but he wasn’t done for the day, finishing with 144 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns and adding a 19-yard reception as well.
Henry was the highest-scoring RB of the week with that massive total, just ahead of Jahmyr Gibbs (37.6 FPTS), who was also in the top entry from jwussow28. Gibbs was owned in 42.8% of lineups in the Milly Maker, since the public expected him to go off against the Saints.
He finished with 156 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns while adding five catches for 30 more yards. The Lions needed overtime to get the win against the Saints, but all the extra time helped Gibbs be an even better producer in his first game after the departure of David Montgomery (28.9 FPTS), who also starred in his Texans debut.
This entry from jwussow28 didn’t include Montgomery, but it did deploy a third running back in the FLEX spot. With four running backs putting up over 35 FPTS, it was a huge day for running backs overall, and this entry added a big day from D’Andre Swift (35.4 FPTS) alongside Henry and Gibbs.
Swift had three rushing touchdowns, 124 rushing yards, and 10 receiving yards to help lead his Bears to a massive 59 points in their win over the Panthers.
Moore and Coker Break Big Plays
In addition to the three running backs who each went off, the entry from jwussow28 had two receivers that went off for over 100 yards and got loose for long touchdowns. Jalen Coker (36.8 FPTS) was the top wide receiver on the entire slate with his 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Bears.
D.J. Moore (24 FPTS) also got free for a long touchdown and finished his Bills debut with five catches for exactly 100 yards and a touchdown.
The Steelers DST (18 FPTS) rounded out this entry’s players in the early window, and Pittsburgh tied with the Bengals DST (18 FPTS) for the most FPTS of all DST on Sunday. Pittsburgh got Coach Mike McCarthy a victory in his debut by beating the Falcons, thanks in part to this incredible play from T.J. Watt.
A Love Connection?
In the later wave, this entry was built around a Packers stack against the Vikings. Both Jordan Love (24.48 FPTS) and Christian Watson (35.7 FPTS) delivered big stat lines, even though Green Bay ultimately fell short on the road against Minnesota.
Love finished the day with 387 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, but he did have a pair of turnovers as well. Both of his touchdown passes went to Watson, who racked up 147 yards on his six catches. With clarity in the receiver room after some offseason moves, Watson looks locked in as the Packers’ top receiver and should be very busy as the Packers may have to lean more heavily on their passing attack while they are without Josh Jacobs (Commissioner’s Exempt List).
Watson added another score later in the game, but this huge 81-yard touchdown was a key play for this top entry since both the QB and WR points stacked up to carry them to the top.
The other player the top entry had from the late window was Dallas Goedert (23.7 FPTS), who finished as the second-highest scoring tight end on the main slate. Goedert had four catches for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as he helped his Eagles squeak out a narrow, two-point win over the visiting Commanders.
The Bottom Line
This entry in Week 1 made all the right calls, fading some popular plays and finding just the right values. The Packers stack against Minnesota and the three star running backs led the way for jwussow28, who claimed the first main slate Millionaire of the season.
