Courtland Sutton and the Denver Broncos will face off with the Kansas City Chiefs in tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup to close down the Week 1 slate. Sutton has served as the top wide receiver in the Broncos’ system for the bulk of his career and will now be lining up alongside Jaylen Waddle to take away some defensive attention.
Looking at the odds for the matchup, the Chiefs enter as 2.5-point favorites and hold -130 odds to win outright on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Broncos hold +110 odds to produce the upset, with the game total set at 43.5 points.

Courtland Sutton Over 42.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
There has been plenty of conversation surrounding the addition of Jaylen Waddle. Denver made a major trade for the former Dolphins’ star, and he will be looking to build off the 5,039 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns he tallied across the first five seasons of his career. While Waddle will surely play a major role in the attack, there is still plenty of room for Courtland Sutton to produce.
Sutton is coming off back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons, including earning his first Pro Bowl opportunity last year. He has also tallied 25 touchdowns across the past three seasons. This is all while the 30-year-old has been at the top of opponents’ scouting reports, oftentimes draped in double coverage and the top opposing cornerback. Sutton will benefit from sliding down the list of defensive priorities and have an easier path to getting open.
It will be fascinating to see how his role in this new-look Broncos’ offense evolves, but it feels the market has overcorrected a bit for his prop line following Waddle’s arrival. Sutton averaged 59.8 receiving yards per game last season and as many as 69.5 yards per game in a season during his career. He pulled in over 42.5 yards through the air in 11 of his 17 games played, including 113+ yards twice. Sutton is also a big play threat, as he finished last season ranked ninth among all wide receivers with receptions of 20+ yards.
Looking at the matchup, the Chiefs finished last season ranked 12th in total passing yards allowed and 17th in net yards gained per pass attempt. There was some significant roster turnover in the secondary this offseason that should lead to them taking a step back. Kansas City brought in L’Jarius Snead and Alohi Gilman in free agency and are counting on rookies Mansoor Delane and Jadon Canady. Bryan Cook, Jaylen Watson, and Trent McDuffie are no longer in the building, and each played major roles last season. Facing a legitimate test right out of the gates, expect some growing pains for this new-look Chiefs’ secondary.
I am buying the dip in Sutton’s prop line and expecting the 42.5 receiving yard prop to be too low. He has strong chemistry with Bo Nix, and there is room for both Sutton and Waddle to have an impressive performance. Count on him shaking free for at least one big gain and recording over 42.5 yards through the air in his 2026 NFL debut.
