Omarion Hampton More Than 0.5 Rushing + Receiving Touchdowns
Omarion Hampton should start the season strong for the Chargers. He only played nine games in his rookie season, but he scored five touchdowns in those nine games. Hampton was also splitting carries with Najee Harris last season and is now the clear lead back in Los Angeles. The Cardinals are a great first matchup for the Chargers, and they are big favorites at home. Jim Harbaugh should do what he loves most in the world in this game: run the football. Hampton should get touches early and often and have plenty of action down the stretch as the Chargers look to hold onto a lead. He has a great chance to start the season by finding the end zone at least once.
Cam Ward More Than 0.5 Interceptions Thrown
The Jets were the first team in NFL history to finish the season with zero interceptions as a defense in 2025. While they didn’t have a great defense, that is also a statistical anomaly. Even if the Jets struggle on that side of the ball again, they are bound to luck their way into a couple of picks. That statistical anomaly has a great chance to correct itself right away in Week 1. Cam Ward had a decent rookie season, given the talent around him, but he is not afraid to throw the ball downfield into tight windows. He threw a pick in six of the first eight games of last season, and the Jets should try to bait him into throwing one to start this season.
New York added some nice veteran pieces to its defense this offseason to provide stability. One of those players is Nahshon Wright, who ranked second in the NFL in picks last season. It also added Minkah Fitzpatrick, who has 21 career interceptions. The Jets should be able to get the monkey off their back and get an interception in the first game of this 2026-27 season.
DeVonta Smith More Than 5.5 Receptions
DeVonta Smith is now the main man in Philadelphia. Smith was the WR1 in his rookie season with the Eagles, but he has spent the last few seasons firmly in a WR duo with A.J. Brown. Brown moved to the Patriots in the offseason, and now Smith is the clear top target for Jalen Hurts. Smith has been a very consistent target for Hurts throughout his career. With a group of young players around Smith at receiver, he should get the lion’s share of the targets, especially early on in the season.
This is a good matchup for Smith to open the season. The Commanders ranked 31st in the NFL in defensive EPA/dropback and 28th in defensive dropback success rate last season. This secondary is vulnerable, and Jalen Hurts should attack it by going to his favorite target. In the first matchup of the season against the Commanders in 2025, Smith had six catches, despite that being a huge game for A.J. Brown. Smith should get a lot more targets this time around and hit that six reception-mark again with ease.
