He doesn’t need the pole to win the day. Across six short-track races run under the new package this season, he’s averaged an 11.50 starting spot but finished fourth on average, which is the widest positive gap between start and finish of anyone with four or more starts in the field. His average running position sits at 5.74, and the weighted version of that number, which leans harder on where a driver runs late in a run, actually improves to 5.21.
Hamlin is the defending Gateway winner, and his last three trips to this track have gone first, second, and second — a 1.7 average finish. Four wins during the regular season earned him the No. 1 seed, and he still leads the reset Chase standings after Darlington. That race was ugly. He finished 18th after wall contact from Michael McDowell dropped him a lap down for a stretch, and only a wave-around got him back on the lead lap. None of that changes what he does at Gateway. If anything, Hamlin is hungrier.
Ty Gibbs | Finishing Position: 9.5
Pick6 Play: Better
He starts up front and stays there. A 6.50 average start across six short-track races this season is the best mark of anyone besides Ryan Blaney, and unlike Blaney, he isn’t giving it back. His 5.50 average finish is a tighter gap to his starting spot than what Bell, Logano, or Larson post.
His average running position, 8.76, trails Hamlin’s and Blaney’s, but his weighted ARP tightens to 7.96, which means his position late in runs holds up better than a flat average suggests. This is NASCAR Pick6. Only finish matters. Late laps and the last lap payoff. That’s where Gibbs’ stats shine, similar to the rest of the Toyota squad.

Create a Pick Set
Create a Pick Set by choosing 2+ players from the same sport and Pick Group (a set of picks available from a group of set competitions). For each player, simply select if you think they’ll have more or less than their listed stat projection. In each Pick Set, you can not pick the same player twice and you must pick players from at least two different teams.
Enter an Amount
Once you finalize your Pick Set, choose your entry fee amount. Your entries will be automatically distributed into available contests, subject to your confirmation.

When the games go live, use the My Picks tab to follow your picks in real time to track how your players are performing against their projections and how they stack up against other users.
Compete for Prizes
Make enough correct picks and win a share of the contests’ guaranteed prizes. Any prizes won will be credited to your DraftKings account after contests are finalized.
