After his impressive rookie season was cut short due to a gruesome ankle injury, Cam Skattebo will be back with a vengeance. Jim Harbaugh has taken over as the New York Giants head coach, and tonight’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East divisional battle for the season opener.
Looking at the odds, the Cowboys enter as three-point favorites and hold -166 odds to win outright on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Giants hold +140 odds to produce the upset, with the game total set at 47.5 points.

There are plenty of ways to get involved in the action across DraftKings Sportsbook. You can check out the preview for the game outlook and plenty more on DraftKings Network here. But lets look at my top Cam Skattebo prop bet for the opening Sunday Night Football matchup of the season.
Cam Skattebo Best Rushing Yards Pick vs. Cowboys
Cam Skattebo Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
The Giants selected Cam Skattebo with the 104th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He was limited to just two carries and -3 yards in his debut game, but then made his case for the primary running back role moving forward. Across his eight total games played, the Arizona State product finished with 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Across the right games as a whole, Skattebo averaged 51.3 rushing yards per game. However, if you take out his two carries in his debut and the three carries he tallied in Week 8 before his season-ending ankle injury, Skattebo averages 66.8 rushing yards per game.
Harbaugh has traditionally leaned more on a rushing-first attack in his offenses. Expect the same to occur in New York, especially with a loaded running back room that includes Tyrone Trace Jr., Devin Singletary, and Najee Harris. While each may see some chances throughout the year, expect Skattebo to headline the rushing effort. Jaxson Dart showed promise in his rookie season, but has to make some progress with his decision-making and ability to take care of his body. Establishing the run early will only help with this transition, and expect Skattebo to headline this effort.
This is a great matchup to kick off this effort against a Cowboys defense that still has plenty to improve. Dallas finished last season ranked 32nd in points allowed, 30th in total yards allowed, 26th in rushing yards allowed per game, and 31st in rushing touchdowns conceded. The organization made a clear effort to improve their personnel this offseason, but the improvement has to happen on the field and not on paper.
There has been plenty of concern over split carries and injury concerns regarding Skattebo. But see through the smokescreens and back the top Giants’ running back to see the largest role tonight. Count on Skattebo being eager to return to the bell cow type running role he played himself into last season with a strong statement in the opening week. Facing a vulnerable opponent and likely to be the most physical player on the field, it will not take a massive workload for him to eclipse 49.5 yard rushing line. Back Skattebo to record over 49.5 yards on the ground as the standard prop line, and don’t be afraid to swing on some alternate lines such as 60+ at +147 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.
