A Tale of Two Cities returns Sunday, Sept. 13, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MGM+ with Episode 2, “Malunion.” Lucie Manette is finally crossing to Paris to find the father she has mourned for 18 years. Charles Darnay has opted to take her.

Sydney Carton kept Charles from the gallows after having been charged with treason. Prosecutors had Charles dead to rights case looked sturdy until Sydney stood beside him. The witness could not tell one man from the other. A lovely courtroom trick for Charles. Admittedly, however, a miserable romantic development for the lawyer already besotted with Lucie.
At the pilot’s close, Lucie told Sydney she would leave with Charles the following morning. Their time together in France draws Lucie and Charles closer. Charles has said remarkably little, however, about the life he abandoned, the past which seems to haunt him. You imagine we’ll learn plenty of that in this next episode.
And, when Lucie arrives in Paris, the air will be tight with conflict. Thérèse Defarge watched the Marquis’ carriage crush a child in the premiere, then watched him dismiss the death as a nuisance. While Lucie searches for her father, Thérèse starts planning revenge.
