Coco Gauff is looking to claim the second US Open title of her career. It’s easy to forget Gauff is only 22-years-old because she has already accomplished so much in her career. However, she will have plenty of chances to win many more majors, and this is certainly one of them. Gauff is playing great tennis over the past few months. She made the semifinals at Wimbledon, the semifinals in Canada, and won the title in Cincinnati before heading to New York. However, this will be a huge test against a fellow top-five player in the world.
Mirra Andreeva Preview
This has been a breakout year for Mirra Andreeva. She won her first-career major at Roland-Garros earlier this summer. Andreeva became the 10th-youngest woman to win a major at 19 years and 38 days old. Andreeva was 142 days younger when she won her title than Coco Gauff was when she won her 2023 US Open title. However, things have not been great for Andreeva since winning that big tournament. She was knocked out in the second round at Wimbledon, in the Round of 32 in Canada, and in the Round of 16 in Cincinnati. She has taken care of business so far at the US Open, but this will be her first serious test of the US Open.
Coco Gauff vs. Mirra Andreeva Pick, Best Bet
My best bet is on Coco Gauff to win in two sets. This bet can be found at plus-money, despite the fact that Gauff is in much better form at the moment. She has been playing great all summer, and that culminated in a WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati before heading to the US Open. Andreeva had an incredible achievement at Roland-Garros, but has struggled to perform since that title. Coco Gauff is also 5-0 in her career against Mirra Andreeva. Gauff has yet to drop a set at this tournament, and she should keep that streak going in the quarterfinals.
