PITCHER
Stud
Cam Schlittler, New York Yankees vs. Colorado Rockies ($11,200) — Through 171.2 innings, Schlittler has a 2.62 FIP with a robust 24.8 K-BB%. Averaging 98 mph on the fastball certainly helps. He’s allowed only 15 home runs and has put up 28.6 and 32.8 FPTS in the two recent outings. On the season, he’s gone over 20 FPTS 16 times with nine of those over 30 and two over 40 FPTS. The Rockies haven’t been as inept on the road this season, but Colorado is still eighth in strikeouts and 19th in wRC+ away from Coors Field.

Landen Roupp, San Francisco Giants vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($7,400) — Roupp only averages 92.8 mph on the fastball and the K-BB% is only 11.2, primarily due to the 11.1% walk rate. Like Schlittler, though, Roupp has been very good at keeping the ball in the yard, as he’s allowed only 11 home runs in 144.2 innings. The FIP is a respectable 3.7 while the Statcast numbers are nice – 86.1 mph average exit velocity, 10.9 degree launch angle and 5% barrel rate. Now, he’s exceeded 20 FPTS only six times this season, with the last one coming in July. That said, St. Louis is 25th in ISO, 24th in wOBA and 21st in wRC+.
INFIELD

Tommy Edman, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds ($4,400) — The switch-hitting Edman has six home runs and six stolen bases in 260 plate appearances this season. He’s been much better against left-handed pitching, as the wRC+ is 135 with a .181 ISO. Nick Lodolo is allowing an average exit velocity of 90.5 mph with a 9.7% barrel rate. Against righties, he’s allowed 14 home runs with a 5.87 FIP. Lodolo has also been much worse on the road, as the FIP is 6.7 compared to 4.87 at home.

Christian Koss, San Francisco Giants vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($2,400) — There’s a lot not to like about Koss, as he’s slashing .207/.248/.303 with a .097 ISO in 157 plate appearances. He’s batting ninth in the order and the Statcast numbers are paltry – 84.6 mph average exit velocity, 5.5% barrel rate and 69.7 mph bat speed. That said, the ISO is .238 against left-handed pitching and all three home runs hit have come off a lefty. He also slugged two home runs, good for 30 FPTS, two games ago. Quinn Mathews is allowing a .295/.380/.385 slash with one home run and 11 earned runs allowed in 19.2 innings to righties. The K-BB% is 6.5.
OUTFIELD

Jackson Merrill, San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals ($4,700) — Merrill has 22 home runs, 72 runs, 70 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 587 plate appearances. The big bugaboo is the .237 batting average. The average exit velocity is 91 mph, barrel rate is 11.9% and the bat speed is 73.3 mph. Against right-handed pitching, 18 of the 22 home runs have been hit while the ISO is .194. Matt Waldron will likely open the game and pitch a few innings. Lefties are slashing .340/.383/.629 while the FIP is 5.11. Lefty Will Dion will likely follow him, but he’s allowing a .283/.345/.453 slashing with two home runs against lefties. Merrill is slashing .278/.303/.405 against lefties. After Waldron and Dion, it goes to the Nationals bullpen, which has been one of the worst in MLB, posting the second-highest FIP.

Mike Yastrzemski, Atlanta Braves vs. Tampa Bay Rays ($2,700) — Yastrzemski has a 90.6 mph average exit velocity and all nine home runs have come off a righty. The wRC+ is 95 while the ISO is .159. These are not robust numbers but he does have some pop and the price is cheap. In addition, Freddy Peralta has allowed 17 home runs to lefties while the FIP is 4.52.
