Labor Day weekend was loaded with college football across the nation, but the fun isn’t even over yet. On Monday night, there’s one more game to wrap up Week 1 as the No. 19 SMU Mustangs meet the Florida State Seminoles in an ACC battle. This one kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET, so settle in to close out out the holiday with a bang.

SMU vs. Florida State player props
Kevin Jennings 270+ passing yards (-118)
Over the last two seasons, SMU has shown that the program can compete at the Power 4 level. That’s been due in no small part to star quarterback Kevin Jennings, who has provided high-level play and stability under center in an era where names come and go like never before. The senior from Oak Cliff, Texas posted 3,200 yards with 23 touchdowns in 2024 before an even better 2025 with over 3,600 yards and 26 touchdowns, also adding nine combined rushing scores across those two campaigns. He’s been one of the best quarterbacks in college football – last season, he finished tied for eighth in passing yards and tied for 17th in passing touchdowns. The Mustangs’ offense in that campaign ranked 27th in the nation with 32.2 PPG, as well as 13th in passing yards per game with 283 per outing.
The group of weapons Jennings will throw to has changed a bit, but does return Yamir Knight, who hauled in 54 passes for 637 yards last season. Transfer wideout Yannick Smith also had 583 yards on 44 receptions last year at ECU and is joined by Jalen Hale, a former five-star transfer from Alabama. There are pieces to make this passing offense another well-oiled machine in 2026, so SMU should lean heavily on the pass and allow its star quarterback to work his magic once again. And while Florida State had a very solid pass defense in terms of yards per game allowed last year, the Seminoles lost a lot of talent in the secondary. The Mustangs will likely attack through the air and Jennings hit 270+ passing yards nine times last season, so this makes for a solid prop pick.
Ousmane Kromah 60+ rushing yards (-104)
The Seminoles are looking to hit the reset button after a forgettable 2025 – it’s possible Mike Norvell is even coaching for his job moving forward. The offense wasn’t bad by any means last season, but there’s also a notable lack of returning production with only two starters back on the board. They put up 34 points on New Mexico State in Week 0, so if that’s any indication, there’s reason for optimism moving forward.
In the backfield, Ousmane Kromah seems to be the new starter. He led the running backs with 14 carries in the season opener, taking those for 115 yards and a touchdown. The 8.2 yards per carry are unlikely to hold up against stiffer competition, but still, it was a very impressive debut in a featured role. Last season, Kromah handled 72 carries for 408 yards with an average of 5.7 yards per carry, so he does seem deserving of the bump to starter.
The SMU defense was awesome against the run last year, so it may be a difficult matchup for FSU’s runners if their opponent can continue that kind of success in the defensive front. However, there’s still a good chance for Kromah to get to 60+ rushing yards as long as he continues to operate as the primary option in this ground game. The spread is just 2.5 points, so if this is a competitive matchup, I feel good about this prop.
