It hasn’t always been pretty, but the New York Yankees have hung around near the top of the AL East as they chase down the top spot in the division. Now, they’re set to receive major reinforcements in the lineup for the home stretch of the season – and the chase for the MLB Postseason.
Superstar outfielder Aaron Judge, who last appeared in a game on May 31, is set to make his long-awaited return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies.
Judge has missed over two months for the Yankees, who have struggled to consistently perform at their ceiling throughout his absence.
Of course, his return will be a major boon for this lineup. The three-time AL MVP was slashing .248/.375/.533 with a .908 OPS before hitting the IL at the end of May due to a fractured rib he sustained in late April. Across his 53 games, Judge had scored 43 runs with 38 RBI and 17 home runs, also stealing five bags. Notably, that .908 OPS still leads all batters on the team.
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s game, DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Yankees as a -338 Moneyline favorite at home against the Rockies.
New York has an 81-62 record on the year and is just four games shy of the Tampa Bay Rays for the top spot in the AL East.
