What happened to Lazaro Montes? Live injury updates for Athletics vs. Mariners on Friday 9/4/26

Update: Montes (hip) said he’s feeling better and is expected to be available off the bench on Saturday

In another brutal blow to the Mariners, the recently called-up Lazaro Montes left Friday’s game against the Athletics with an apparent injury — just three games into his MLB career.

The club’s No. 4 prospect went 0-for-2 before getting replaced by Taylor Ward in the fifth inning.

Since Montes was removed after recording his second at-bat, he is not eligible for DraftKings Early Exit.

As it stands, the Mariners are saddled with a disappointing 66–75 record and sit a distant 5.5 games out of the AL Wild Card amid a lost 2026.
