There’s a buzz in the air with college football finally back. Week 0 gave us some fun games, but the real fun begins with Week 1 on Thursday. There’s a really interesting matchup set for the evening between Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET.

Justice Haynes 100+ rushing yards (+193)
One of the biggest names to hit the portal this past offseason, Justice Haynes went from Michigan to… Georgia Tech? It had the makings of a confusing transfer beyond the obvious home-state ties for the Georgia native, but there’s no doubt that the halfback is positioned for a massive year with the Yellow Jackets.
Last season, Haynes appeared in just seven games before an injury cut his campaign short. Across those seven contests, he tore through opposing defenses for at least 100 yards in six of those outings. With 121 carries, the 5-foot-11, 210-pound back racked up a staggering 857 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns – good for an average of 7.1 yards per carry. His breakaway speed makes him a threat for a house call on any play, evidenced by a longest rush of 28 yards or more in five of his seven appearances last year.
Now, Haynes steps into a clear featured role in this Georgia Tech offense against a team that just could not stop the run last year. Colorado ranked 132nd in the nation with 222.5 rushing yards allowed per game, and while the program did bring in talent, new faces probably aren’t an instant fix for this issue. The Yellow Jackets are also a 6.5-point favorite on Thursday, so expect a heavy dose of Haynes.
Danny Scudero 50+ receiving yards (-119)
This feels like something of a layup pick. Last year, Danny Scudero led the nation with 1,297 receiving yards on 88 receptions, also scoring 10 touchdowns. That was an incredible campaign for any player, but especially so for one who was competing at San Jose State.
Now, Scudero has brought his talents to Colorado. He’s a small wideout at 5-foot-9, but he’s already displayed ability as a target-earner and should slot in as the top receiving weapon for the Buffaloes. He’ll catch passes from quarterback Julian Lewis, who showed flashes of promise as a spot starter last year. It may take some time for them to truly form a dynamic pairing, but there’s no doubt that the two should connect a few times in this matchup on Thursday night.
Just getting to 50 yards shouldn’t be too tall of a task for Scudero, who averaged 14.7 yards per reception last season. He posted a catch of 20 or more yards in eight of his 12 contests with the Spartans, so deeper passes are no problem for him. Yes, Georgia Tech won’t be an easy matchup, but after reaching 50+ yards in 75% of his appearances last year, he’s proven capable of meeting the moment – especially at a fairly low line, given his pedigree.
