After tying for the worst record in the league during the 2025-26 regular season, it’s time for the Arizona Cardinals to turn over a new leaf. There’s a new head coach in town, a new starting quarterback, and a new path forward. While they may be taking their lumps along the way, they’re ready to get building.

In free agency, the Cardinals were quiet. They made a few upgrades here and there on the offensive and defensive lines, and kept core players around. The main show was the draft; Jeremiyah Love is now the main weapon of the Arizona offense and will look to lead the charge for Nathaniel Hackett’s offense. The hope is that Jacoby Brissett can play well enough under center to get Love, Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride, and Michael Wilson on strong footing. If the offensive line can put together a solid effort, Arizona’s offense may be better than expected.
The big problem here is the defense. One of the worst units in the league this past season, Arizona did little to upgrade its defense in free agency and spent four of its first five picks in the draft on the offensive side of the ball. It’s going to be a tough obstacle to overcome, especially when you play in a ruthless NFC West. Last season, Arizona lost all six games against the division, and those foes are no weaker this season. It’s not hard to see why they are one of the favorites for the No. 1 pick in next year’s draft.

Though I do expect Arizona to be bad on both sides of the ball in the aggregate, the boom days for their offense will lead to some wins, and they’ll eke out an improvement on last year’s disaster season.
