San Francisco 49ers over/under wins prediction for 2026-27

This feels like a huge season for the San Francisco 49ers. Throughout Kyle Shanahan’s tenure, they’ve always been the bridesmaid, but never the bride. They’ve had to watch two division opponents, the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks, hoist Lombardi trophies while suffering two rough defeats to Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl. Now with the roster growing older and more expensive, this could be a do-or-die year for such a promising core.

Below is my pick and prediction for the 49ers’ 2026-27 regular season, including a win total bet on DraftKings Sportsbook.

San Francisco 49ers 2026-27 NFL win total odds

The 49ers’ win total for the 2026/27 NFL regular season is set at over/under 9.5 wins, with the odds slightly juiced to the over.

San Francisco 49ers 2026-27 season prediction

Things have sure lined up well for San Francisco going into this season. Despite finishing with 12 wins last season, San Francisco was third in the division behind Seattle and Los Angeles, meaning they get a third-place schedule for this season. Only three of their 11 non-division opponents made the playoffs last season, so seven of their 17 games will be against 2025 playoff teams. Of course, some teams like the Chiefs will be back in the mix, but it’s a softer schedule than most other playoff favorites.

They’ll need everything they can get. One of the most injured teams in the league, the 49ers have a league-leading 25 injuries heading into cutdown day before the regular season. That includes Mike Evans, their big free-agent signing, George Kittle, Nick Bosa, 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams, and 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall, who will miss the entire season after undergoing knee surgery. Any breaks in the schedule and opportunities to take the foot off the gas will be welcome.

The positives for San Francisco are hard to deny. Brock Purdy shows with each passing start that he’s the franchise quarterback they are paying him to be. Christian McCaffrey continues to be an all-around workhorse in the backfield. George Kittle has completed a miraculous recovery from his Achilles tear against the Eagles in the playoffs and is expected to return early in the season. If the defense can keep Fred Warner and Nick Bosa in the lineup, it should be one of the best units in the league.

But there are the negatives. Beyond the injuries, diminishing returns in recent drafts have left them light on depth. Key positions on the offensive and defensive lines, in the receiving corps, and in the defensive backfield are especially vulnerable if injuries hit. And it’s hard to overstate how quickly their receiving group has deteriorated. Just two seasons ago, they had Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Kittle, and strong depth; now they have to rely on Kittle, fresh off an Achilles tear, alongside older and slower versions of Evans and Samuel. It’s all a bit concerning, to say the least; they’d better hope that rookie De’Zhaun Stribling lives up to the training camp hype.

So, what’s the best way to bet on their total?

The downsides are certainly here, but this total is too low. Shanahan’s 49ers have finished with 10+ wins in five of their last seven seasons, and even at their most injured last season, they fought to win 12 games on a tougher schedule. It’s hard to imagine they can be more injured at more critical positions than they were last season. What happens after the regular season is anyone’s guess when it comes to the 49ers, but they will find a way to grind out ten wins at the very least.

Best Bet: Over 9.5 Total Wins (-146)
