With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Friday?

Dodgers vs. Tigers NRFI (-145)
It’ll be Tarik Skubal on the mound tonight in Detroit, taking on his former employer. Since joining the Dodgers, the two-time Cy Young winner has been good, not great. Over four games, he’s recorded a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30 strikeouts. Regardless, the southpaw remains one of the best arms on Earth. Over the past two seasons, he’s accounted for a solid 78.0% NRFI rate. The spacious dimensions of Comerica Park should make things easier for both pitchers on Friday. The Tigers have produced a 25.76% YRFI rate at home, fifth-worst in baseball.
To counter Skubal, it’ll be Drew Anderson toeing the slab this evening. The reliever is serving as an opener tonight, a role that he’s done well in this season. Through 81.1 innings, the right-hander has posted a 4.09 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 91 strikeouts (10.1 K/9). He has yet to allow a first inning run in all six of his starts in 2026. Los Angeles, for all its firepower on offense, doesn’t always come out firing. The Dodgers have a below-average 25.0% YRFI rate on the road. Given the big name pitching for the other side, this bet likely comes down to Anderson escaping the first inning unscathed. He’s more than capable of doing so on Friday night.
Royals vs. Guardians NRFI (-125)
Michael Wacha will be on the bump this evening for Kansas City. The two-time All-Star has been a source of stability on an otherwise mediocre pitching staff. Over 162.2 innings of work (26 starts), he’s delivered a 3.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 126 strikeouts (7.0 K/9). The grizzled veteran is a true first inning specialist, evidenced by his stellar 84% NRFI rate over the past two seasons. There’s a good chance that continues against a Cleveland offense averaging the league’s third-fewest runs per game (4.05). To boot, the Guardians are responsible for baseball’s tenth-worst YRFI rate (27.61%).
As for the home team, it’ll be Tanner Bibee making his 28th start of the season. It’s been a decent campaign from the righty, a reliable member of this Cleveland rotation. Through 156.1 innings pitched, he’s notched a 3.97 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 123 strikeouts (7.1 K/9). The fourth-year pro tends to come out of the gates hot, allowing a first inning run only once over his last ten appearances. Now, he’ll take on a Royals team that’s averaging an MLB-worst 3.68 runs per game on the road. There’s no reason to assume Bibee can’t take care of business tonight at Progressive Field.
