SP Noah Cameron, Kansas City Royals at Toronto Blue Jays, $6,900
This pitching slate is so weird. Essentially, you’ve got four of the best starters on the planet priced above $8,000, then you’ve got everyone else. The crown jewel of that “everyone else” group? That would be Noah Cameron. The lefty has been incredible in his past two starts, allowing just three hits over 14 scoreless innings. Heck, if you go back as far as July 24, Cameron owns a 1.05 ERA and a 2.31 FIP. It’s a stretch of time where the 27-year-old hasn’t surrendered a single home run across 42.2 frames.
Trying to end this streak of success will be the Blue Jays, a team that ranks 29th in runs scored for the season as a whole — they passed the Mariners on Wednesday when Seattle was shutout. Toronto does rank dead-last in hard hit rate (34.0%), expected slugging percentage (.354) and expected wOBA (.295). This is not a lineup to fear.
1B/3B Andrew Vaughn, Milwaukee Brewers at New York Mets, $3,500
This is a steal of a price for Vaughn.
In his 105 plate appearances against left-handed pitching this season, Vaughn is slashing .360/.457/.584 with a .225 ISO and a 187 wRC+. That aligns perfectly with the larger trends of the former third-overall pick’s career, in which he’s been a stud of a platoon bat. There’s a reason a smart organization like Milwaukee will likely have Vaughn hitting clean-up this evening against Sean Manaea ($7,100).
Speaking of Manaea, the big lefty hasn’t had nearly the same level of success in 2026 when pitching as a member of the Mets’ rotation. Manaea is conceding 1.70 opponent long balls per nine in his 13 starts, while he’s also in possession of a fifth percentile opponent barrel rate for 2026 as a whole (11.3%). Those are flashing red flags.
OF Drew Gilbert, San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks, $3,000
Unless your name is Rafael Devers ($4,200), if you’re still employed by the 2026 Giants, you are eligible to be an MLB DFS value play. Congratulations, I guess?
Gilbert has recently been leading off for San Francisco against right-handed pitching, so it stands to reason he’ll do so this evening versus Jose Cabrera ($5,000) and the Diamondbacks. On the whole, the rookie’s numbers within the split are quite encouraging. Gilbert is slashing .275/.361/.439 with a 124 wRC+ when opposed by an RHP. In terms of recent performance, Gilbert also has three extra-base hits in his last three contests.
Meanwhile, Cabrera will make his first MLB start since early July. The 24-year-old’s initial go-around with Arizona in 2026 did not go swimmingly, as Cabrera pitched to a 5.60 ERA and a 5.46 FIP over 17.2 innings. My expectations are not overly high.
