MLB Picks: Best Strikeout Prop Bets for Wednesday 8/26/26

By: Sam Connon

There are a handful of aces taking the mound Wednesday, from Pirates rookie Bubba Chandler to Astros righty Peter Lambert and Twins lefty Connor Prielipp. Will Chandler continue his breakout summer? How will Lambert look in the Bronx? Can Prielipp manage to generate strikeouts amid a messy stretch? Here is our full breakdown of where we think each starting pitcher will wind up in the strikeout column.

Best MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Today (August 26, 2026)

  • San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates: Pirates RHP Bubba Chandler 5+ strikeouts: Chandler has notched 5+ K in 4 straight and 6 of his last 7, as well as 4 of his last 5 road starts, while the Padres have allowed opposing starters to hit that mark in 4 of their last 7.
  • New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros: Astros RHP Peter Lambert 5+ strikeouts: Lambert has gone for 5+ K in 6 of his last 9, 9 of his last 13 and 5 of his last 6 road starts, plus the Yankees average the 4th-most strikeouts per game in MLB.
  • Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins: Twins LHP Connor Prielipp 6+ strikeouts: Prielipp has recorded 6+ K in 5 of his last 7 with 5 K in both of those misses, routinely hanging around long enough in spite of some brutal beatdowns.

MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown

Bubba Chandler 5+ K (+117), San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Despite allowing four earned runs in 4.0 innings his last time out, Chandler has really settled in this summer. He is 3-0 with a 3.28 ERA and 8.8 K/9 since July 11, reaching five-plus strikeouts in six of those seven starts. Chandler has also hit that mark in four of his last five road starts and four straight overall. While none of the last three starters who have faced the Padres have recorded at least five strikeouts, each of the previous four did.

Peter Lambert 5+ K (-191), New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

Lambert got shelled for nine earned runs his last time out, only striking out three batters. Prior to that meltdown, though, he had notched at least five strikeouts in nine of his previous 12 outings. This bet also would have hit in five of Lambert’s last six road appearances. Going against the Yankees could also work in Lambert’s favor, considering their lineup averages the fourth-most strikeouts per game in MLB. Even in the Bronx, New York averages the third-most strikeouts per home game.

Connor Prielipp 6+ K (-107), Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins

Prielipp is fresh off two brutal outings, allowing eight earned against the Phillies and six earned against the Padres. Still, he posted six and seven strikeouts in those two games, respectively. The southpaw has gone for six-plus strikeouts in three straight and five of his last seven. Even in the two instances that he failed to reach that threshold, Prielipp notched five punchouts, giving him a pretty high floor. The fact that he has lasted into the fifth in 17 of his last 18 helps with that floor as well. He had five strikeouts last time he faced the Athletics, who average the ninth-most strikeouts per game in MLB. They did just strike out 11 times against Taj Bradley on Tuesday, seven times against Zebby Matthews on Monday and eight times against Christian Javier on Sunday, though. The A’s also have a 24.8% strikeout rate versus lefties like Prielipp compared to their 21.5% mark against righties.
