Is Keenan Allen a sleeper WR you need to draft with Alec Pierce and Josh Downs injured?

The Colts just signed Keenan Allen last week and the veteran’s fantasy value continues to get stronger. Alec Pierce remains on the PUP list as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery, and while there have been reports that receiver is nearing a return, Pierce was spotted walking with a slight limp at Colts’ training camp yesterday.

With Pierce’s health in question, Josh Downs has been a trendy mid-round pick for fantasy football drafts this summer, but now, Downs is dealing with an injury of his own.

Keenan Allen Fantasy Value

Keenan Allen, meanwhile, is healthy and getting acclimated to this Colts’ offense. That shouldn’t be difficult, though, given Allen and head coach Shane Steichen have a strong relationship after working together for many years with the Chargers.

Allen figures to operate as Indianapolis’ No. 3 receiver when this team is at full-strength, but with Pierce and Downs dealing with injuries, Allen may be in line for an even larger role to begin the season.

While 34-years-old, Allen is coming off an excellent season with the Chargers. The wideout hauled in 81 of his 118 targets — both of which led the team — for 777 yards and four touchdowns. Allen didn’t miss a game, and he saw a target on an elite 25% of his routes, including 15 red zone targets. Allen averaged 10.9 FPTS per game and finished as the No. 29 receiver for fantasy football.

Is Keenan Allen a Sleeper?

As you can see, Keenan Allen still has plenty left in the tank, and with Pierce and Downs beat up, and Allen playing under Steichen again, an even better season for the veteran could be on the horizon. At an ADP of 155.9 for Best Ball drafts on DraftKings, Allen is standing out as an elite late-round pick.
