They needed a late winner from Carlos Espí, but they got there in the end. After finishing second last season, they will look to go one step further and knock off Barcelona from the top spot in Spain. They’ve done some good work in the transfer window to try and close that gap, signing Yan Diomande, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espí. All three of them came off the bench in the opening match.
Now they face Real Sociedad in their first home game of the new season. Sociedad, who finished 10th in La Liga last season, started off the new campaign with a defeat to Real Betis. It was a fairly comprehensive win for Betis despite just a 1-0 scoreline. They doubled up Sociedad in shots and shots on target.
Real Madrid won their first game this season and three or more goals were scored in that 2-1 win. I think a similar result is in store here. In both La Liga fixtures between these teams last season, Real Madrid were victorious and at least three goals were scored in both games. In the last four games, Real Madrid have won three times and three or more goals were scored three times. This feels like a great bet for Los Blancos to get their second win of the season.
