Few teams in the NFL are a bigger enigma than the Bengals. Cincinnati only managed to win six games last season, a massive disappointment compared to preseason expectations. With that being said, things should improve in 2026. For starters, there’s optimism that face of the franchise Joe Burrow plays more than eight games. On the other side of the ball, new acquisition Dexter Lawrence gives this defense a difference maker up front. After an active offseason, can the Bengals re-establish themselves as Super Bowl contenders?
Below is my pick and prediction for Cincinnati’s 2026-27 regular season, including a win total bet on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Bengals win total pick for NFL regular season

Cincinnati’s over/under currently sits at 10.5 wins on DraftKings Sportsbook. It’s a number that reflects the hype surrounding this year’s squad. As previously mentioned, Burrow was hampered by injuries last season. When the three-time Pro Bowler did suit up in 2025, he won five of eight games. Granted, the LSU alum hasn’t been the healthiest player during his NFL career. He’s missed 17 potential matchups over the past three seasons.
With a healthy Burrow (big if), this is one of the NFL’s premier offensive units. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins form what might be the best wide receiver duo in football. On the ground, Chase Brown has blossomed into one of the sport’s best running backs. Even a once-maligned offensive line finished last season at 14th in sacks allowed (36), a respectable number for one of the league’s most pass-happy squads. On paper, there’s no reason to assume a notable decline in production barring major injuries.
It’s the defense that’s been the biggest question mark for Cincy as of late. Last season, this group ranked 31st in yards per game (380.9) and 30th in points per game (28.9). To make matters worse, defensive end Trey Hendricks signed with the rival Ravens back in March. Fortunately for the Bengals, this front office was aggressive in addressing their needs on that side of the ball. Lawrence is a legitimate Hall of Fame talent, forcing his way out of New York following a contract dispute. Sexy Dexy had a bit of a down year in 2025, but that doesn’t diminish his potential going forward. Look no further than the 2024 campaign, in which he racked up 9.0 sacks, 16 QB hits, and eight tackles for loss…in just 12 games. Another key addition is Boye Mafe, brought aboard from Seattle. He might not match Hendricks’ pass rushing production, but he’s a decent replacement up front. At the very least, the NFL’s worst run defense should see major improvement.
This schedule is certainly an upgrade compared to last season’s gauntlet. Based off of 2025 winning percentages, Cincinnati has the third-easiest schedule in football. That’s not to say this will be a walk in the park, however. As always, the Bengals will battle AFC North foes Baltimore and Pittsburgh twice this year. Any football fan knows that intra-division matchups can go either way. In addition, matchups with the Buccaneers, Texans, Jaguars and Chiefs will provide a litmus test against playoff-caliber opponents.
Best Bet: Bengals under 10.5 wins (-140)
One thing I feel confident in: Cincinnati will be in the playoff picture well into December. In fact, it’s likelier than not this group secures a postseason berth. Still, a five-win jump from last season requires plenty to go right in The Queen City. Beyond Burrow’s health, this defense needs to be much tougher on the ground. Lawrence and Mafe alone aren’t enough; internal improvement is necessesary. In addition, this new-look roster will get a rude awakening during the month of September. Opening with four games against quality opponents (TB, HOU, PIT, JAX) could prove difficult. At the end of the day, 11 wins feels like a bit much for a squad with plenty to prove.
