We head to East Lake Golf Club (par 70, 7,440 yards, Bermuda greens) in Atlanta, Georgia, for the TOUR Championship. This is the third and final event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and East Lake has been the home of the TOUR Championship since 2004. Tommy Fleetwood (-16) won this tournament last season by three shots for his first PGA TOUR win. There will be 30 players competing for a $40 million purse and no cut this week.
Below, I have featured my two favorite bets for the TOUR Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Russell Henley over Si Woo Kim (-104)
Kim has had the better season than Henley, with these two players sitting fifth and 12th in the FedEx Cup standings, respectively. However, Kim has yet to win this season, while Henley won the Charles Schwab Challenge in May and looked far better than Kim at the BMW Championship this past week.
Henley finished T-12 while gaining strokes on both approach and with his putter, whereas Kim finished T-33 of the 50-man field while losing strokes in every major category, except around the greens. These players now head to East Lake, which is a course Henley loves, but a venue that has given Kim trouble.
Henley has finished 12th, T-3, T-14, T-4 and runner-up in his five starts at East Lake while Kim has finished T-10 and T-20 in his two starts at the course. Henley carded a career-low 9-under 61 at East Lake last season and he ranks second in this field in strokes gained per round at the par 70. Kim, on the other hand, has shot even par or worse in 4-of-8 rounds and he ranks 23rd in this field in strokes gained per round at East Lake.
Henley should outperform Kim at East Lake and Henley needs to be backed to win this matchup at this reasonable -104 price on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Wyndham Clark for a top-five finish including ties (+240)
Clark is playing the best golf of his career and is an elite bet for a top-five finish at these +240 odds. The 32-year-old just won the BMW Championship by three strokes last week, giving Clark three wins for the season, which is tied for the most on the PGA TOUR.
All three of these victories have come in Clark’s last 10 starts and he has finished inside the top-five at six of these events, including a T-5 at the playoff opening FedEx St. Jude Championship before the BMW Championship. Clark gained strokes in every major category at both these playoff events and he ranks second only to Scottie Scheffler in total strokes gained when we compare this field’s last 36 rounds.
It will likely come down to Clark and Scheffler for PGA TOUR Player of the Year, and Clark performing well at East Lake will go a long way in his pursuit of this award. Clark has been strong at this venue, finishing third and eighth in two starts and shooting under par in all eight of his rounds.
Clark ranks third in this field in strokes gained per round at East Lake and he should end his incredible season with a high finish at the par 70.
