American League division leaders meet again on Monday night, as the Texas Rangers open up a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field.
The Rangers (65–66, 1st AL West) have won four of their last six games and share the division lead with the Houston Astros. The White Sox (68–62, 1st AL Central) have taken three of their last five and hold a 3.5-game cushion over the Cleveland Guardians.
The teams first squared off in Arlington shortly after the All-Star break, with the White Sox taking two of three.
Looking at the pitching probables, we’ve got Texas right-hander Kumar Rocker (4–10, 4.46 ERA) taking on Chicago righty Jose Urquidy (2–1, 5.06 ERA).
First pitch is at 7:40 p.m. ET. The White Sox enter as 1.5-run home favorites with -129 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Rangers are +120 underdogs, with the game total set at O/U eight runs.

Texas Rangers
With the Astros also hitting the road this week, the Rangers are looking to take care of business on their end to potentially take sole possession of the American League West’s top seed. Houston owns the tiebreaker, leaving Texas on the fringe of a Wild Card spot with 31 games to go.
The Rangers’ lineup has stalled since the All-Star break, ranking 24th in wRC+, 26th in wOBA, and dead last in xwOBA. But although Josh Jung remains sidelined, the team has received a strong offensive jolt in the form of a returning Corey Seager. Since coming back from a month-long IL stint on July 31, the star shortstop is hitting .333 with a .914 OPS and three homers. Seager heads into Monday with six multi-hit performances in his last seven games.
On the other end, Texas has been handcuffed by its underperforming bullpen — saddled with MLB’s third-highest ERA in the second half (5.16). The starting rotation has remained decent, though the club is looking for more consistency from Monday’s starter, Kumar Rocker. While the young right-hander, 26, held the White Sox to only one hit over six innings with six strikeouts on July 21, he has posted a 5.76 ERA in five starts (25 IP) since. Rocker’s last four outings have resulted in losses for the Rangers.
Chicago White Sox
At long last, the White Sox have returned to relevance. In one of the most compelling storylines of the season, Chicago has gone from three straight 100-plus-loss seasons — including a modern-record 121 defeats in 2024 — to being in pole position for the American League Central crown. The club holds a 3.5-game cushion over the Cleveland Guardians with 32 games to play.
While the offense has cooled from a red-hot start to the year, Chicago’s lineup remains formidable behind a pair of breakout stars. Japanese rookie Munetaka Murakami and an ascendant Miguel Vargas have both crushed 29 homers this season, and they’ve combined for 17 bombs since the All-Star break.
On the other side of the ball, the White Sox’s lousy rotation continues to be backstopped by a top-ten bullpen. Jose Urquidy, especially, stepped up in a big way in his last outing. Facing a surging Cubs lineup on August 19, the 31-year-old right-hander shoved six innings of two-hit ball with eight strikeouts in long relief en route to a 3–0 win. He’ll look to carry that momentum into his first major league start since 2023.
Rangers vs. White Sox Pick, Best Bet
Even amid Corey Seager’s offensive surge, the Rangers’ offense has largely been stagnant since the All-Star break. Meanwhile, their bullpen has been disastrous. While the White Sox haven’t been incredible since the break, the Munetaka Murakami- and Miguel Vargas-led order is a formidable matchup for any pitcher — especially if they’ve already seen their stuff. Kumar Rocker’s turbulent run of form suggests he could stumble in his second turn against Chicago, while Jose Urquidy should capitalize on the momentum from his latest outing against the Cubs, leading the White Sox to a home victory in Monday’s series opener.
