MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Breakdown
Drew Rasmussen 5+ K (-148), Detroit Tigers vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Rasmussen came out of the All-Star break firing on all cylinders, allowing four earned runs in five starts to open the second half. Even when he got shelled for five runs in his most recent start on August 19, he still managed to post five strikeouts. The Rays are now 6-0 in Rasmussen’s last six starts, over which span he has a 2.31 ERA, 2.03 FIP, 0.943 WHIP and 10.3 K/9. Rasmussen has gone for five-plus strikeouts in five of those six and 17 of his last 23. Although he has yet to face Detroit this season, Rasmussen has notched at least five punchouts in 11 straight starts against lineups that rank in the top 10 when it comes to limiting strikeouts. The Tigers, meanwhile, rank No. 19 in that category.
Ryan Feltner Under 3.5 K (+104), Washington Nationals vs. Colorado Rockies
Feltner has never been known as a strikeout fiend, only exceeding 85 strikeouts in a season once since debuting in 2021. And still, his 6.3 K/9 this season are a career-low by over a full strikeout. Despite lasting into the fifth inning in 13 of his 14 starts since returning from the injured list on May 30, Feltner has failed to rack up very many punchouts. He has come in under 3.5 strikeouts in each of his four starts in August, as well as 8 of his last 10 and 11 of his last 15. Feltner could only muster up three strikeouts when he faced the Reds, the most strikeout-happy lineup in MLB. He is set to face a Nationals lineup that ranks dead center of the big leagues in strikeouts per game, as well as one that averages 1.13 fewer strikeouts in DC than they do on the road. Feltner has only faced Washington once in his career – striking out three in 2023 – and has never pitched in Nationals Park. The Nats have also held opposing starters under 3.5 strikeouts in three of their last five.
Logan Gilbert 6+ K (-170), Seattle Mariners vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Gilbert has managed to turn in a very productive season after facing a few bumps in the road back in May. He allowed seven homers between two starts early that month, but just nine home runs in 15 starts since. The Mariners have won 12 of those games, all while the righty has recorded six or more strikeouts in 11 of them. Philadelphia averages 8.78 strikeouts per game on the road, quite a notable tick up from their 7.97 mark at home. Meanwhile, Gilbert has reached six-plus strikeouts in seven straight home starts, putting him in a prime position to continue that streak in Seattle on Monday.
