After winning at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler had a down week by his lofty standards, finishing T12 at the BMW Championship. After he completed his Final Round, Scheffler revealed part of the reason for his struggle could have been that he was dealing with hand, foot, and mouth disease all week
Scheffler opened with a 72 in Round 1 before bouncing back with a 65 on Friday. He climbed the leaderboard with back-to-back rounds of 68 to finish the week.
He started the week at the top of the FedExCup Standings and will remain in that spot heading into next week’s FedExCup Playoff finale at the TOUR Championship. Scheffler will hopefully be able to recover in time to be at his best at East Lake Golf Club, where he won the 2024 FedExCup Championship and has finished in the top six in five of his six career appearances.
