Bad sign for the San Diego Padres on Saturday night. Casey Mize, acquired from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline, was forced to leave Saturday’s game in the third inning with a trainer.
It’s unclear exactly what was wrong with Mize, but it is worth noting that the Twins hit three home runs off the right-hander in under three innings. Up until Saturday, Mize had yet to allow more than one home run in a start this year. Possibly a coincidence, or a possible sign that Mize was not feeling himself throughout the entire game. He was replaced by Kyle Hart.
